Great day at the range. Max loads got me around 3050 with room to go. The top two loads were 9 and 10 FPS extreme spreads. The combo didn't group great, but I havnt messed with seating depth at all.
From what I’ve found RL 23 loads are about 1 grain less than RL 22 in similar loading like 280 and 7SAUM. That’s the route I went, 1 grain less than RL 22 max and backed off 10%. Should be shooting it in the morning.
I don't mess with new brass much, I do run a mandrel or expander ball through it to make sure the neck is round. Even on the expensive nice stuff I've found necks out of round.
I called Berger for the data, i think they just ran a quick load on it though. I found that Nosler has some R-23 data online https://load-data.nosler.com/load-data/280-ackley-improved/
Yeah, i still use them in my kids 7mm-08, and would still use them in my 280 AI if I could get them to shoot better than the bergers. They work on game which is a big factor for me.
I seem to have this problem with ELD-X's I/m using the VLD seater with them. They also have the greatest weight difference of most bullets I load. I'm fine tuning a berger load and have been very happy with their consistency.
I've been working up loads with 160 AB's using 4831SC and R-23, as well as 168 and 175 bergers with R-23. The R-23 is showing to be the powder I'll be sticking with. I'm getting around 2950 with the 168's and 2875 with the 175 hybrid's I borrowed load data from nosler and hornaday to figure a...
My understanding of "the node" was that it was timing the exit of the projectile out of the barrel (adjusting that timing with the projectiles velocity) while the barrel vibration was at the breech and not the muzzle...
I picked up a Christensen Ridgeline in 280 Ackley this year and about went crazy with the whole wildcat vs saami debate.
This has been my experience:
I fire formed 60 pieces of Remington 280 rem brass during break-in with no issues, when closing the bolt it felt like there was a slight “crush...
I've recently begun reloading for the 280 AI. Powder wise i'm getting good results from 4831SC with 160 accubonds. I've got a load of 168 bergers with R-23 ready to shoot.
All of the Trim to length I've seen is 2.525" with a max of 2.530. 2.590 sounds really long to me.
For measuring...
