300WM - Factory ammo "overpressure" signs

I have not shot the factory Hornady load in my rifle yet. I will look at the fresh cases in a few. I think you are correct in the head CLEARANCE being off(breech face to case head). That would account for the primer being force back and flattened without actual overpressure. I had a...

300WM - Factory ammo "overpressure" signs

Yes I am positive the brass was only once shot, still kept in the original boxes. That is my exact process as well, with no issues with my other 300WM rifle. I will take a look at the lot numbers since the owner gave me the brass still in the original boxes. I will look into getting a...

300WM - Factory ammo "overpressure" signs

I know the owner cleaned the barrel several times within those first 60 rounds. I have a bore scope, I'll see if there is anything noticeable.

300WM - Factory ammo "overpressure" signs

Overview: Doing load development for Seekins Havak Pro Hunter PH2 in 300WM, brand new with maybe 60 rounds of factory ammo through it. Rifle owner gave me the once shot brass after he zeroed it. I noticed the once shot brass was quite a bit more difficult to resize than I am use to, to the...

    Feeling satisfied.

I have reloaded for handgun quite a bit but finally getting into long range hunting and reloading for my rifles. I must say I haven't felt this much satisfaction in awhile. Stock 700 SPS 300 Win Mag 200 yards with just my bipod 3 shots ~0.25 MOA Accubond 180's ~2900 fps All I ever...

    Question on tumbling

I cut up a dryer sheet into squares and throw them in, seems to help quite a bit. FYI lizard walnut bedding is much cheaper and then just throw in a capful of NuFinish every other tumbling and you will get super clean brass.

223 - Help explaining these pressure signs

No, my extreme spread is in the low 100 fps. Not sure as to why.

223 - Help explaining these pressure signs

Problem solved, looks like the 6 1/2 primers are NOT to be used with high pressure cartridges.

223 - Help explaining these pressure signs

This is my first load up of 223 but I am getting some odd pressure signs when I believe there shouldn't be. Data: RRA LAR-15 16" barrel Cheap 224 55grain fmj bullets I bought at a gunshow COAL - 2.235 Accurate 2230 6 1/2 primers Once shot mil brass So I did a load up of 22grains -...

    First load up of 300wm

Still haven't made it out to the range. My buddy with the chrono is going to be gone for the rest of the week. But I will keep you updated. Maybe I should load up some 223 while I wait....

    First load up of 300wm

Wow, thank you all for the replies. I was originally looking for H1000 but couldn't find it. I took the advice to start at 70gr and work up to 74, in 0.5 gr increments. I have them all loaded up and ready for tomorrow. Thank you again and I will update with a field test.
