I shot factory rifles all my life and a factory rifle can shoot very accurately. I had John Beanland build me a custom 7mm and I handpicked every part including a drive down to Manners to pick a stock. Very fun experience and the gun fits me perfectly. I am much more confident with that rifle...
I started a rifle build a year ago right when the 6.5prc started to take off. I don’t reload and the 7mag offered a lot of ammo options. I was nervous the 7mag was going to punish me as pops has one with an old wood stock that beats you up. I was having cartridge remorse wishing I had gone...
I am just saying good service would’ve been a new barrel. A couple hundred buckos worth of barrel and they would’ve probably had a customer for life, plus anyone he tells this story forever.
I would consider good customer service to be them sending you a new barrel with the amount of testing you’ve done. This barrel has put you through the ringer and you having to send the gun for testing doesn’t seem very “good” to me
I’ve hunted MO my whole life. If you shoot a buck over 200 lbs that is a very large deer and that is in good farm country. A 300 win will certainly not be overkill. A 6.5 will do just fine but nothing wrong with more power.
I have a 3” Henderson ARCA rail on my hunting gun. I haven’t hunted yet as it’s new but I’ve taken it out to 600 yards and I am really happy with accuracy paired with the RRS tripod and anvil 30. I had manners put a short pic rail in front of the action and swapped it out with the Henderson.
I took my 308 on an elk hunt a few years back as well as black bear last year. It killed both game dead but honestly I left wanting more oomph for the next time. I moved to a 7rem mag but haven’t tested it out yet.
I got suckered into this old thread. Sheesh
I saw my first griz while on horseback elk hunting in BC. About 40 yards away walking through timber. Guide was 50 yards ahead and I about **** my pants. Then went on black bear hunt in AK. a couple years prior my guide shot a griz at point blank with a 454 Casull, right after it mauled his dad...
Buying a factory rifle is like a mail order bride, sometimes you get lucky and hit the jackpot, others not so much. On the other hand buying a custom is like finding exactly the right partner for you, maybe not perfect but you got to choose your partner. Disclaimer - Both options don’t always...
I just decided what I’m going to do for my 7mag after researching extensively. RRS TFC-33 legs with the anvil 30 head and a pic rail on stock in front of the action screw to attach. The anvil 30 can attach to a picatinny rail or a dovetail. You can get an RRS dovetail plate for a hog saddle and...
