A Weatherby 460 sold right here on this sight. Was very interested in it and was about to purchase and discussed it with my wife and she talked me out of it. Keep in mind now that at the time I was 74 yrs old with two high powered magnum rifles already. Diddn't need it, just wanted it and...
I purchased a Halo xlr3000 for $149 from MidwayUSA. Had a Nikon Prostaff 7i prior to that. The Halo was far better than the Nikon and I have found many hunters that have had the same comments. The XLR3000 was discontinued shortly after I purchased this one. Being a retired farmer now, I have...
Have you ever been actually attacked by a copperhead? Squirrel hunting on the farm with a .22 LR Scope and all. Had 3-4 squirrels up above me in the tree tops. Shot one and watched where he fell, then sit back and waited, oping to get a shot at another, but that never developed. So I stand...
I've reloaded hundreds of rounds with Weatherby and Norma brass and consider them on the same quality level with Lapua. Not even familiar with the Peterson or ADG.
For varmints I would even consider a .22 Magnum. I'm 74 and used my Winchester 290 .22LR for almost 60 of those years for varmints like ground hogs and muskrats.. Had it sited in at 100 yds. Just put me a new scope on it this year.

You replied that you have a Weatherby 300 Mag. Only one brake you need for that gun, the Weatherby Accubrake. I have one on my WBY 340 Mag and I would compare the recoil to my WIN Model 94 30-30 with no brake. WBY has them on a Black Friday sale for both Vanguard and Mark V for $45.
If your new to reloading, I would suggest viewing this thread: https://www.nosler.com/load-data/caliber-and-cartridge-data.html, Nosler Load Data. Nosler manufactures bullets and brass for reloading and has no bias towards powder brands or variety. They test all brands of bowder for almost all...
Heck, I've had new large magnum CCI primers misfire. I have always been leery of something like that and this is the first time I've seen any one experiment with it.
Great info for this forum and a good topic with the primer issues.
Nosler Load Data is showing 50 gr max. , 48 and 46 min. for 125-128 gr.
I like Nosler's Load Data because they will compare several brands of powder for the caliber you select. Check out their site here https://www.nosler.com/65-284-norma
It appears to me that you already have all you need to meet your objectives with the rifles you have. Now if its just a new rifle your wanting I would perhaps recommend a .338 caliber either Weatherby Mark 5 or Browning BAR with emphasis on the BAR. Happy hunting.
Considering liability laws, I would definitely say it is a pressure issue. Like most reloader's, I have several manuals of which I haven't referred to any in the last 15 -20 years for the charge information. About the only time I will reference one of them is when I can't find the caliber and...
The .270 is a fantastic gun in that mid size caliber like the .308, ,300, 30-06, & 6.5. The $1000 issue is the question. All manufacturers have the at least one model in that price range. However the question YOU need to ask yourself is, "What am I sacrificing for the cheaper product?". The...
