Pass through or Expended in Target?

I guess that's why I appreciate the NP design: a soft anterior compartment that fractures and 'sheds' and expands, followed by roughly 60% of the bullet in a package designed to penetrate and exit and leave a blood traif, IF that were necessary. It's sort-of the best of both worlds in a wide...

Why I want a 25 creedmoor because it's the perfect caliber.

As a 25 cal fan myself (own every one except .25SSM) I am curious about shooting the 131 Blackjack in either one of my 25-06s, or the .257 Bee. Its .330 G7 should give G1 of .67 or thereabouts, much higher than anything I shoot. Although designed for the CM type seating, other than a faster...

Good caliber for hunting Pronghorn in WY or CO

For most 'open country' hunting, I most ENJOY shooting my either of 25-06s, one a beautifully stocked Sako Lightweight Hunter circa 1985, and the other a delightful to carry Kimber Delux Grade Classic, weighing 6 lbs including VXIII 2.5-8.... Either shoots Sub MOA with 110gr ELDX or NAB, and...

My thoughts on solid copper bullets and in comparison to other bullet types.

As a physician/ scientist (ie, doubledoc), I congratulate your effort here. Certain physiological processes were oversimplified, but your core message re the physiology of death and dying was accurate. I won't comment pro-con regarding products I haven't used or studdied, but MUCH of a bullet's...

Hammer Bullets and Hyper Velocity, The Misconception

I took the time to read through this fascinating compilation of studies on the components of an effective bullet/load. I hae long been interested in the Impact Velocity vs tissue hydrostatic damage effect. My concern with- especially the early, physiology parts of his article- is his misuse of...

    Thoughts on caliber choice

It's never a totally "logical" decision. For ONE GUN, and because you can always shoot 280 Rem ammo in the 280AI, I'd build a dream 280 rifle with the AI chamber, whether you shoot the AI ammo or not. But, except for the heaviest bullets that gives you 7mm Mag performance ina lighter, more...

    Remington brass

25-06 was my first pet project. I have tons of brass from the 80s-90s. Just seperate cases by weight and load away. I've had very few problems with it historically for any practical use......

What can be done with poachers on game cams??

Seriously, guys, we're ignoring the CIVIL REMEDY... Any landowner has the right to file suit for Civil Trespass against anyone using his property without permission. The recovery possible varies by state, but proof is much easier and even claims of emotional distress can be addressed. Here...

    New Reloder

All well said. With the usual available bullets, and with their BCs running in the .390-.480 range, I find maximizing point blank hunting range more useful than trying to make this excellent caliber a truly "long range" enterprise... There is much fun to be had and much to learn from maximizing...

    Caliber Creep

I am distinctly old fashioned here, but for deer or antelope or anything similar I love my 25-06s.... Granted, there's a lack of high BC bullets, but its velocity with 110-115 gr bullets makes it a killing wonder, at least for me. And, it's just plain fun to shoot. I have a beautiful Sako as...

Flattest Shooting Hunting Bullet 257 Weatherby Vanguard 26" pipe

Winchester has its own name for it, and I don't think it's precisely a moly compound, but if seems to decrease Cu fouling in some barrels I've shot. I don't use them regularly. Be interesting to compare velocities with uncoated BT, all else being equal.....

And many of us common folk, although we like maximizing our possibilities and shooting ability at RANGE, are more likely to shoot at 300-600 yards than 1000. And the 25-06 as well as the .257 Bee surpass any CM at those practical distances, with 100 Swifts, 110 AB or VLDs, or 115 BT or Burgers...
