    260 Rem Vs. 6.5-06

I voted 6.5 06 but after reading through all of the posts I think that the 260 would be the better choice.

    Alaska mixed bag bullet help

I would use a barnes bullet for what you are asking for. They openup reliably at long range. For grizzlies they will be just fine.

what do you consider long range ?

For me I consider long range when you have to adjust your scope or you point of aim to hit the target.

Not so scientific look at how bullets perform.

That is very interesting. I was shooting a 45-70 with hornady leverevolution factory loads at thick cardboard and the jacket never made it through. .270 For Moose?

If the 270 is what you can shoot striaght go for it. It is shot placement that counts not bullet diameter or foot pounds. Good luck!

How often do you clean your barrel?

I clean when my groups start opening up. I find it unnecessary to clean if it is still shooting straight. This is usually past 100 rounds for me. If the rifle needed to be cleaned after around 20 shots I would sell the gun.

What's do you think the best all-around cartridge...

The 6.5x55 would be my choice. With the 156-160gr bullets it is very effective on moose, elk and bear. The 130-140 gr bullets are very effective on deer sized game. With the high b.c. of 6.5 bullets they are very good at long range.
