    Recommended Oklahoma whitetail outfitters

I would not say that this group could be called an outfitter or not. Nor would I consider them in SE or Eastern Oklahoma. But they are in OK and I would recommend them. Look to Pennington Creek Hunting Club in Mill Creek, OK - near Ardmore, OK. This is a year-round cattle operation, but has...

    How old is this deer

Definitely mature. I'd say 4.5 youngest - maybe older. Its hard to judge his back unless his head is up - disguises the droop in the back - if present. But he is big in the girth and saddle; short muzzle - at least 4.5.

    Hearing protection advice

I have a pair of Walker in-the-ear electronic hearing protection. I already go to an audiologist since I already wear hearing aids. The audiologist molded some inserts with a port that matched the Walker insert stems. Not within your budget at all but did the trick for me.

    Hearing Protection

Try any of the electronic ear pieces (in the ear). Most come with a small round (variable sized) cushion - which in fact - stink to sitting firmly in the ear. However, I took the hearing equipment to an audiologist and had ear molds made (+/-$250) that would accommodate the stem to the hearing...

Are the Eld x bullets that bad

FEENIX - while your experience is likely as true as you presented it, it IS or CAN be expected. I have always been amazed at wildlife's will to live. I've shot deer before - nailed them thru the heart - yet, they run for 100's of yards - up and down hills, across deep draws, back and forth...

    Shooting after cataracts surgery

I was told they separate the surgeries because no insurance will pay for two surgeries on the day day. Our “coverage” is not considered insurance. Instead it is a “reimbursement” approach to coverage. As a result, I had both eyes done on the same day - 10 minutes apart. The surgery was even...

    Shooting after cataracts surgery

RidgeTop: My understanding is that only the LAL is adjustable. That is what sets it apart as the "premium" choice. There are other lens, however, for specific conditions. But the LAL lens is the one that is adjustable post-surgery – allowing the surgeon to best "dial in" your prescription.

    Shooting after cataracts surgery

RidgeTop: Yes, that is correct. I spent roughly 1.5 hours getting tests, measurements, etc. Ridgetop: Yes, that is true. I spent roughly an hour going through several tests and measurements a couple weeks prior to the surgery. All those measurements tell the surgeon which lens to implant...

    Shooting after cataracts surgery

I am curious however, for those that have gone this route. What is the vision like looking through long range optics? I always fought my bifocals getting a good eye-relief. I am certainly planning on never having that issue again.

    Shooting after cataracts surgery

Well, I have followed this thread and put it aside for a while. I read the opening portion of the thread and became VERY interested. I have a church friend that is also an ophthalmologist and we were captive in a car trip to CO for a ski trip in 2022-02. So being captive in the car, we visited...

Dad and I got our first Antelope

Great pics! I hope you have more - plenty to memorialize the trip for a long time. Remember, it also starts with you. Take your own kiddos out hunting and continue your families enjoyment together.

Pinch me. I must be dreaming.

While inventories may be opening up and availabilities improving - in the last two days, I received email notices of H4350 in stock. When that happens, I check around to compare their pricing. One pound jugs of H4350 was nuts just two days ago - Hodgdon - $60.99 (YIKES); Midway - $53.99; and...

    9mm side arm

Yes - obviously - the round did not stop the bear. I've wondered looking at the pic - why does the round look pristine like it just came out of a box - no disfiguration, nothing?

    156 Berger, 143 ELDX or 147 ELDM

I've not shot all three. I first tried the ELD-X and had great groups, small SD and good muzzle speed. Once I started reloading, anything I shot with it died quickly. So - I'm a convinced fan.

140 Berger Elite Hunter or 143 ELDX

The 143 ELD-X has always done the job for me. Good groups on paper. Dead deer on the ground.
