Advice on New Gun Arrived Damaged Next Steps

If what they told me is to believed, then I guess I made a mistake by not looking it over close enough when I picked it up. "because you legally accepted the product from the FFL, and there was a legal transfer, it cannot be returned". Apparently, I should have rejected it at the FFL and left...

Advice on New Gun Arrived Damaged Next Steps

Recently purchased a new Springfield Model 2020 Redline. No local shops had any in stock, and couldn't get one in for a price within several hundred of what they were selling for 1 state away, as I do try to support and keep a good relationship with my local FFLs. So, paid for it online, had...

    SOLD/EXPIRED CZ 457 Pro Varmint

I believe the "Pro Varmint" was only available in .22lr? If I'm wrong, and it's in anything centerfire (like .204), I'll take it. Edit: I can't read. 457. not 527.

Help me decide: Minimum caliber for larger NA game

Amazed at the response on this forum. Asked a question, expected to get a lot of "newb, do ur own research" responses. Here, 18 pages later, a lot of valuable information. I really appreciate the input.

Help me decide: Minimum caliber for larger NA game

This is probably a separate topic for a different thread, but another factor is if one maintains velocity/energy better in a shorter barrel. Already having a long-barrel/heavy 6.5 creed, I'm good for bench or pleasure shooting and deer-sized game and smaller out to distances farther than I...

Help me decide: Minimum caliber for larger NA game

When I started out with my list, I was convinced most of the .30cals' recoil would be too uncomfortable to shoot often, but I'm not overly fragile and most here have me convinced it wouldn't be that bad with a brake/suppressor. If you take recoil out of the argument, then I agree those make...

Help me decide: Minimum caliber for larger NA game

Not yet. Really appreciate all the feedback from the members here. Still considering all the input, and comparing that to the chamberings of the some of the rifles I like. Not something I necessarily have to have for several months (currently just a want), so I'm holding off to see if some of...

Help me decide: Minimum caliber for larger NA game

Back to the drawing board.... I had essentially wrote off the 300PRC. Liked everything about it, but had decided any reasonable-weight gun would probably have too high of recoil, even suppressed/braked. Now maybe not?

Help me decide: Minimum caliber for larger NA game

As far as gun weight, I'm content with a heavier gun to help with recoil. While certainly not the same as a 10+ mile hike through the mountains, I regularly lug my b14 hmr for a couple miles a day for deer and don't think much about it.

Help me decide: Minimum caliber for larger NA game

308 opens up a bunch of gun model options. I'll even make people roll their eyes at another controversial topic, I can get a sig cross in 308. compact, short barrel for suppressor, etc. 6.8 western is still high on my list, just not a lot of gun options. .280 AI is up there as well, just...

Help me decide: Minimum caliber for larger NA game

Seemed only one person had mentioned it. I was just rambling, I realize there's no perfect cartridge. To throw into the discussion, I know I'm on Longrangehunting, but in reality: Very rarely going to shoot anything over 300yds, and if I do, no bigger than deer. I don't get to hunt the larger...

Biggest knock on the 308 just the effective range? Would certainly give a lot of factory options

Have to admit I don't know much about the 7 SAUM, will have to look into that one.

Help me decide: Minimum caliber for larger NA game

Yeah, I'm not looking for something to do it all. More meant, since I already had the 6.5creed, what would fill that gap on the upper end for any scenario where the 6.5 isn't quite enough. I think .300wm answered my question

Help me decide: Minimum caliber for larger NA game

I should clarify, I'm looking for something with longer range potential. I'm thinking antelope/deer/elk-size out to 5-600 or more, but also capable of larger game, by maintaining energy high enough to work on something like a moose at closer range. I know none of these calibers will be...
