C Congrats Dad. That’s outstanding! I bet from your coaching and teaching, she won’t think it’s always that easy

I want a legit argument against an old trusted cartridge

You’ll get no argument from me on the 7 mag. It’s been my go to for many years. I own a 300 WM, .260 Rem. Couple .308’s and a 6.5 CM. All custom builds with great glass. All half MOA rifles (or I wouldn’t keep them). My 7mag is my number one hunting rifle. It has never let me down. Many hours of...

MOA at 400 but can't get on target at 650?

You need to put up a 4’ X 4’ piece of cardboard at 650 and see where your rounds are impacting. I’m not sure how you got your dope at 650 but I can tell you that even if using the best ballistic charts, they really fall off after 500. You truly need to shoot your dope in on paper at 50 yard...

    Barrel break-in for lapped barrels

Agree 100%. I’ve tried many of the recommended barrel break in procedures recommended by barrel makers. I’ve also done no barrel break in at all. Develop a quality load or several loads, go out and shoot the **** rifle, and when that consistent .50 MOA or better, at all yardages to 1000 starts...

    Bushing Dies How To?

Bushing bump dies are the only way to go. Will extend the life of your brass. For bolt guns, bump the shoulders back .002 and use a bushing that resizes the neck about .002 less than one of your favorite loaded rounds ( you can play with this measurement to find the neck tension that works best...

    Go to 6.5 bullet

140 Berger Elite Hunter or VLD. Both shoot well for me. Elite hunter shoots better for me when held back to magazine length for my .260 VLD a tad better when loaded long. Both sub .50 MOA.

    H1000 and 215 berger

IMR 7828 SSC .50 MOA in my 300 RUM. 190 Berger. Not sure on the 300 WM but I’d bet it would work better than what you are experiencing with H1000.

    6.5 bullets on game

A All those bullets do extremely well on game if you do your part. My hunting partner killed a nice elk 2 years ago with a 6.5 CM and the the ELD-X. One shot drop, tad under 300 yards and dead right there. I am a fan of Berger’s. Antelope and mule deer taken over 500 yards with my .260 and the...

    Bi pods or Shooting sticks

I have both. I have an Atlas Bipod on my rifle and carry a Bog Pod Tripod on the side of my pack. My first choice is prone with the Atlas. Sometimes sage brush, grass or just the topography rules out the rifle attached Bipod. Nice to have the tri pod as backup. I’ve shot most of my coyotes with...

    Why won’t my bolt close?

Yes Yes, you can bump the shoulders with standard FL resizing dies. You will need a brass shoulder measuring tool like the ones made by Whidden Gun Works. They attach to your calipers. You’ll need to know where you are starting from on the shoulders in order to begin the shoulder bumping...

    Why won’t my bolt close?

Ditto. I love the Whidden sizing dies. I have the FL version. Bump the shoulders .002-.003 and use a bushing for the necks that’s .002 smaller than a loaded round.

    Why won’t my bolt close?

Ha I had the same issue with my beloved 7mm mag. My pet 1/2 MOA Elk Rifle. It’s a LR keeper. Schneider barrel, tight match chamber, several one shot drop elk kills out to 820 yards. Many in the 5-600 category. After wearing out one barrel (I used the rifle for local monthly LR steel completion...

    Weatherby Rounds!

It is totally about proper neck tension. I shoot a 7mm Rem. Mag and a .300 Win. Mag. I’ve never crimped any. If you think it may be necessary, get a crimp die and give it a try. Load 5 rounds and crimp em’. Load 5 with proper neck tension with no crimp. Shoot both for groups. Bet you won’t be...
