    6.5-284 load development (changing powder)

I've had really good luck with H1000 & RL25 with the 140gr range of bullets, haven't tried RL26 yet but am planning on it when I run out of the other two powders. In my rifle I'm shooting 136gr Lapua Scenar L's, 140gr Berger Vld's and 140gr Amax's (discontinued). My loads very from 56.3 - 57.0gr...

    6mm creedmoor opinions

I have been shooting the 6XC for a couple of years now and it has become my favorite 6mm. Easy to load for and very accurate. I recently looked at the 6mm Creedmoor and there seems to be very little difference between to two. If I didn't already have the 6XC the 6mm Creedmoor would be my choice...

Anyone running 180 Bergers over 3100 fps?

I have not shot the 180gr Bergers but have shot 175gr Sierra Game Kings with Vihtavuori 570 up to 84gr's of powder at 3200+ fps with no problems. I found my best accuracy with 81.3gr's of powder at 3080fps. I also have a load of 160gr Accubonds with 81.5gr's of Vihtavuori 570 thats around...

    7mm STW Reloading Thread

I would like to share something that happened to me concerning load development with the 7STW a few of years ago. The rifle is a Ruger #1B stainless steel, bullet was 160gr Accubond and powder was Vihtavuori 570. I used Quick Load for guidance which indicated 86.0gr's to be about max...

    7mm STW Reloading Thread

Nice looking group and nice shooting WapitiBob. I ran your load numbers in Quick Load and here is what I got figuring a 26" barrel; 3325fps, 65,655psi & 1.190 m/s barrel time. While the psi is showing near max the barrel time hits very near a node (dan Long on barrel timing) for a 26" barrel...

    ladder testing question

Personally I don't know if the Lead Sled will help or not but as I ponder you question I think about bench rest shooters whose rifles weigh more than their recoil or handguns locked into and fired from a ransom rest to see what kind of accuracy they achieve. While your point of aim will probably...

    Barnes LRX

My son and I used TSX & TTSX bullets this past summer in Namibia on plains game and they performed very well. Out of 14 animals taken with these two bullets only two bullets were recovered. His a 160gr TTSX in a 8X57 with a muzzle velocity of 2850fps and picture perfect w/ 4 pedals. Mine a...

7mm STW Brotherhood - For those who shoot the 7mm Shooting Times Westerner

Yeahhh..... theres nothing like the blast of a 50 bmg coming back through the muzzle brake to make them flinch & scramble for some goggles or something. Kinda makes yah chuckle inside. heh, heh, heh!!!! I'm glade I don't have to go to public ranges anymore and I pray I never have to go back to...

7mm STW Brotherhood - For those who shoot the 7mm Shooting Times Westerner

Well, Lefty7mmstw,thanks for your imput I do appreciate it.The barrel is 26" long. VVN570 might be a slow powder but I think its similar to Retumbo, not sure, and it works so darn well with 160gr and heavier bullets in the 7mm STW. I've had it up to 3300fps+ with the160gr Accubonds but that was...

    6.5-06 future build

Well Centxshooter I think you've made a great choice in adding the 6.5-06 cartridge into your collection of rifles. I have a Remington 700 mtn rifle that I rebarreled into the same cartridge and it is a pleasure to shoot. One of the problems I encountered was resizing .270 brass. It sized and...

7mm STW Brotherhood - For those who shoot the 7mm Shooting Times Westerner

Here is my 7STW, Ruger #1B with a Leupold Mk4 3.5-10X40 TMR. My current load is 160gr Accubond, 81.0gr's of VVN570, WLRM primer & R-P brass. I'm getting around 3100fps and 1.5"- 2" groups @ my 250 meter zero. I just started working up a load with 175gr Sierra GK's with VVN570 and am getting a...

    Powder Choices for 7mm STW

Hi Dano, I'm using 81.5gr's of Vihtavuori N570, 160gr Accubond & WLRM primers at 3.65"oal. I did all of my work up at 250M's and my average grouping is 1.75". I'm averaging 3100fps with this load. I've had it up to 3300fps but thats MAX+. I'm shooting a Ruger #1B ss 26" barrel rifle. I'm happy...
