    Military Binoculars

I looked at binoculars on line recently and had the impression a lot of US military guys personally buy the Steiner "military/marine" range. these are at good price i.e US160 for 8X30's. The acutal US military I think buys the next level up with special range finding plex which would irritate...

My most fun gun is a 17 HMR

Gerald same here in Aussie no semis and no supressors either unfortunatley for my hearing! Have really only had my sako quad wood out once - but the 120m head shots on a couple of rabbits were a joy. I can see the Blaser 93 with .223 match is going to get less of a workout in the future Here...

Steiner Binos- differences nighthunter, military, predator?

Hi I'd appreciate advice or information I am seeking to get a knock around pair of binos to fill in between the Leica 8X32 and Steiner predator 10X26 compacts. Thes binos will get dusty - lain on multiple times a weekend, dragged through dirt as a I crawl to postions to take shots at the...

What removable scope mounts without loss of 0

Tulku thanks - that is interesting. For me, ironically, I actually WANT to use it on small calibres - as I have pretty much any big calibre hunting/varminting covered by my Blaser I ultimately want the mounts to fit to sako 11mm rails

What removable scope mounts without loss of 0

I agree and approach this with trepidation - but my Blaser R93 dissasembles and reassembles without obvious change of 0 - I now put the barrel on and the sight on and go varminting with shots of >200m with rechecking the 0. And I just use hand tension on the barrel locks and the one piece...

What removable scope mounts without loss of 0

Thanks for the feedback - more options than I knew. Since I was looking to mount it on a Sako I was alos wondering if anyone has useds the sako optilock system - especially the quick mounts?

What removable scope mounts without loss of 0

Appreciate some help Looking for good scope mounts that enable scope to be removed and reattached without loss of Zero. It works for my blaser (astonishinlgy well)- but the mount only fits a blaser - I am looking for alternatives for other rifles

    Harris bipods

I have the 3 of the strait tlelscopic but have heard that the notched are better - in that it is easierand quicker to adjust to different heights in the field. I certainly find trying to adjust legs to less than full height - while lying down and being inconspicuous interesting. I'd go notched...

    Rabbit Hunting in New Zealand

I shoot along some long fencelines here in Souther Australia. Same thing - it is easier to get mroe shots at longer ranges - obviously it is probably the localised and close bang of the rifle that scares them most. My longest bunny shot was 450m lasered with a rem700 vs in .223 with Remmington...

What could be causing my first shot hitting target off group?

Artemis How is the rifle going now I use a R93 professional with .223 jagdmatch barrel for varminting. is that an aftermarket cheek piece attached to your stock in the photo?

Steiner - predator an advantage or not?

Interested in views/facts on what the Steiner predator filter add/takes away I have leica 8X30 which are wonderful but too expensive to lie on and drag through the dirt... which I tend to do multiple times a day in my mid range varminting in open terrain. I bought a 10X26 pocket size Steiners...

Harris Bipod and Pod Loc .......

Shawn What value does the pod lock give you in a hunting situation? For me the tension/friction in a moderatly tightened knurled nut is enough to hold the rifle in the postion I put it in when taking a shot. Am I missing something?

Harris Bipod and Pod Loc .......

Birth Interesting - I agree with you about the swivel - would not be with out it now. I have 2 harris with, and one without. I havn't had the notched leg versions but would agree that they are probably superior. One of mine is the 25 inch extra long version - which I use for sitting shots...

"Quiet crowns" - reducing percieved noise and ear damage?

\"Quiet crowns\" - reducing percieved noise and ear damage? With a growing interest in protecting my remaining hearing while hunting I have been told of "quiet crowning". 1-2 inches depth of wider than bullet crilling in the end of the barrel. This effectively would form a sleeve and...

    Versa Pod vs Harris Bi-pod

I am very fond of my 3 harris particularly the 2 s class- one for prone and one for sitting and the only versapod I have seen was left on the counter of a gunstore when the owner replaced it with a harris - had problems getting it to "lock". This may not have been the locking version I have...
