Anyone heard of a 243 white express?

The 243 WHITE EXPRESS is a round that I designed and developed back in 1994. It is based on the full length 444 Marlin necked down to 6mm with minimum body taper and a 40 degree shoulder angle... I am currently shooting a bull barreled Remington 700 chambered in the 243 WHITE EXPRESS...

    Switchbarrels and barrel bedding pads

I build 20-25 rifles a year in the calibers you mentioned as well as many other stitch barrel guns and calibers and I personally prefer to pillar and epoxy bed the action but allow the barrel to be fully free-floated. This offers the greatest accuracy advantage as there is no barrel contct with...

    Help choosing cartridge

If I were to shoot elk out to as far as 700 yards, I would probably opt for the 338 RUM... Even if you hunt bear, the 338 would be perfect for that as well. Even for deer at long-range, the 338 would be hard to beat for that as well... Yes, the 7mm would probably be more than adequate but...

private SW MS 900 yds range

When I lived in Kokomo MS. where we had a 1,300 yard range that use to be an old abandoned air strip where they use to land crop dusting planes many years earlier. It was only 18 feet wide but just as clean as a golf course and as flat as a pancake. You just can't imagine how bad I miss that...

    Problem with shot consistancy 30-378

Are you able to touch the lands or is the free bore length to great? Have you tested the accuracy both with and without the brake?

    Problem with shot consistancy 30-378

My first thought would be possible throat erossion but with you being able to put 2-shots 1/2" apart and then blow the third one out, it makes me wonder. It would help knowing the number of rounds fired down the bore. How does the crown look? Are all raised lands square and sharp? How many...

    257 weatherby

I have built a lot of rifles chambered for the 257 Weatherby and in every instance, the barrels were a 1-10" twist. I believe the bullet you are wanting to shoot will give you very good accuracy with a 10-twist barrel even though a 12-twist may give you a little higher velocity.... D&T

    CUSTOM H&R in 22lr. MATCH - picture...

Sir, I drilled and tapped the barrel for a 1/4-28 screw and the forend is both epoxy and pillar bedded up to the attaching screw with the rest of the forend being free floated... This gun, like most H&R's do seem to shoot best when the front rest is directly in the center between the...

    CUSTOM H&R in 22lr. MATCH - picture...

Sir, the forend is designed to "ride the bags". That piece on the forward edge of the forend is just a block of walnut that I sat under it to take the picture.... D&T

    1,000 yard deer rifle...

ltr308, thank you Sir... The 140 gr. A-MAX "WILL" open up on a deer at 1,000 yards if you punch high on the front shoulder as I have used the same caliber/velocity/barrel twist rate as you... We finally decided to go with the Hornady 95 gr. V-MAX bullets in 1-10" twist barrels a couple...

    1,000 yard deer rifle...

huntinfool18 - no Sir, I do not have any pictures of bullet damage at these long ranges. Most bullets enter the size of a #2 pencil and exit about the size of a golf ball. We only shoot high on the front shoulder though, if that makes any difference.... davewilson - yes Sir, "taper bedding"...
