If it was me I’d go for the 338 RUM. If you have a 300 and smaller calibers sounds like a 338 would fill out your entourage. As far as recoil goes you can put a break on it and knock the kick down to 270 levels or less. I have a MBM lil beast on a factory sporter barrel and it kicks like a 243...
Throwing this one out again. Trying to get a load for 285 ELDMs out of a 338 RUM with n570 powder. I’m shooting 250 berger elite hunters right now over 97 grains n570 in adg brass but would like some more energy and speed at distance. The load would be shot out of a factory Remington 700 xcr...
I’m running 97gr of N570 with 250 Berger’s in adg brass fed 215m primers and loaded at 3.78 COAL. I haven’t put it through the chrono yet but shoots .45 MOA
Anyone have 285 eldm load data for vv n570 for the same 338 RUM? I’m loading at 3.78 to have some wiggle room in a 3.80 wyatts. I’ve got some 250 Berger’s at about .45 MOA at the moment but the ELDMs are intriguing me.
Looking to buy a vortex viper pst gen 2 in 5-25. Preferably ffp but open to sfp for the right price looking for around $700 or so but if you have one you want to unload shoot me a price.
Hey gang,
Drawing results came out and I finally got a 215 tag for Montana. I’m wondering if anyone has hunted it before and has any info and doesn’t mind sharing. Got a call into the biologist and I’m already looking at BMAs but some actual experience would be greatly appreciated!
I picked up a box of 285 ELDMs for my 338 Rum with a lil beast brake on a stock 26” sporter barrel and action. Hornady is less than zero help and need some load data or at least a good start point. I have H-1000 and retumbo and would prefer to stick with those for temp stability but I’m open...
Brakes are definitely a plus on a hunting rifle. The recoil reduction from a break on a hunting rifle let’s people enjoy shooting and practically eliminates flinching on a shot. Obviously for lighter calibers it’s not as big of an issue but for the larger calibers and magnums I wouldn’t shoot...
