Help me decide: Minimum caliber for larger NA game

Black bears or brown bears? If I were shooting lower 48 browns, I’d go with 30.06 or 7mm mag as a min. Fine for elk, moose, etc.. I’d probably prefer a 300 mag and for sure, if alaska browns I’d even want a 338. Modern bullets are so much better that old caliber rules may not hold...

    Radical firearms any good?

I don’t personally have one but a coworker had one and told me when I asked the same question, “buy a radical ar and you’ll have radical problems”. I have a larue which has been fine, I don’t put a lot of rounds Through it though. Another buddy has a psa and it shoots fine, about 1 moa.

    Youth rifle 243 or 300blk?

I’d go 243 of the two. But my 8 yo has a 7mm08. Tikka has a model with adjustable stock, or rather a piece that can be inserted as he grows. There are light loads, available, which he shoots now and will decent For elk Which we have in Oregon. If You are hunting Missouri, 243 all the way...

Covid got me, elk hunt on hold...

It was rationed. a Handful of southern states were using 70 percent of supply and were not using any other measures Of disease mitigation. It is a very expensive treatment and only part of strategy to control this disease. Masks and vqccines work. Vaccines do fade but a few months ago...

Is the 243 the best whitetail deer cartridge?

Thee is no best. Ballistics aren’t magic, you have a projectile traveling at a speed and if it hits with sufficient size, mass, and velocity in the right place it will get the job done. I think your story is just anecdotal. I have a buddy who sold me back my 30.06 (traded to him years before)...

    Best factory Rifle???

Tikka fits that bill. I have a sako Finn ear and my kid has a tikka in 7mm08. It is great shooter and fit and finish is on par with sako. Not as pretty but wonderful rifle.

Caliber and best factory rifle for Whitetail deer - NC

Both are terrific rounds and the difference in ballistics is not much. I have 6.5 cm and purchased my son a 7mm08. He is 7 and shoots the reduced recoil rounds with no issue and can shoot 2 in groups. The 7mm08 is my choice but not by a lot. It will be better for elk aw he becomes older...

Need advice on light a light recoiling hunting rifle!

6.5 Grendel is mild and put that in ar platform and no kick at all. You will spend some money to get it really light but can be done. It has excellent long range ballistics and is far better than a .223 For hunting.

    .260 on elk

260 and 6.5 creedmoor are ok but I’d personally stay under 400. 270, 7mm08 or 308 better. 30.06 and now we are talking a good marksman can think about 500 on a big bull. I like 7mmMag Or 300 win. If you like recoil,go 338. My cousins shoot quite a few whitetail Doe (landowner damage...

    CVA Accura LR-X. Load Help

I have an optima and a Remington ultimate. I shoot with a few loads. I find blackhorn 209 cleaner than the pellets . I usually shoot 70 by Weight in areas where my shot will be under 100 yards and load up to 91 by weight for longer shots. I have had good luck with Powerbeats despite some...
