Is an ELD-M basically just a tipped berger?

You can also kill an animal with a controlled expansion bullet and not find it after a dead run.

My thoughts on solid copper bullets and in comparison to other bullet types.

Petey308, Great stuff! Do you have a web page where we can look at your accumulated research? I wonder if a powdered tungsten core compressed and mixed with epoxy, or bismuth substituted for lead has been tried?

Which powder? Horniday 6.5 cm 143 grn precision hunter.

Staball 6.5 gives me about 100fps higher velocity than H4350 in my 7mm-08 at 0.8gr below max Hogdon load data. Two loads appear to have 5 and 6 fps SD, but I've not done enough testing to be sure. It measures great when throwing charges out of a volume measure so it speeds up loading time.

    I Hate Hammer Bullets!

I don't hate any bullets. I don't like that people are shut down in this forum for expressing their opinions. I and others have seen it. That's my belief anyway. If that is associated with a particular product it will not reflect well in marketing. You're feeling the effects obviously or you...

Homogenous copper bullets can be inhumane

Foster definitely has his opinions, but they have always been backed by extensive testing from what I've read. I'm sure he would put in a good word on Hammer Bullets if he had them in New Zealand, and he'd also discuss limitations. I expect we will see a Foster discussion someday on Hammer...

28 Nosler and 169gr Hammer Hunters

Did it vertical string with Berger bullets? I'm guessing not. Did the shots string low to high or random?

    6.5 Creed and Hammer Hunters

Yay hammer bullets! The copper deer demodulator strikes again.

    Bullet construction

Great info! Thanks for the work to post this. I love the ELD-M killing performance too. Devastating explosive wounding and forgiving on a couple high angle entrance shots that an ELD-X probably wouldn't have worked on. On deer, chunks of lead and jacket still pass thru. I'd rather lose meat...

AZ Coues deer-6.5 Creedmore and Hammers

Good job finding a Booner Coues! Stuff happens and everyone misses sometimes, uphill and downhill shots especially. Great tracking and putting it together to finish the buck. I enjoyed reading your post.

    Group Pattern Question

I've heard that if the action is pinched and doesn't return to battery in the stock that can cause this, but it's more of a double grouping than an odd flyer. One thing I've heard is to try is to grease the receiver and lighten the torque on the action screws. Every once in a while I get a...

Need advice on light a light recoiling hunting rifle!

Your 223 plan sounds good. My neck is getting worse and if I shoot my magnum rifles I get pain and numbness and I'm getting afraid to shoot them and have it turn into a permanent injury. My 6.5 Grendel AR with a muzzle break and an H3 buffer doesn't seem to recoil badly with 123gr bullets...

6.5 Grendel won’t close bolt when feeding a round

Measure your reloaded cartridge dimensions to see if your cartridge is in spec. Compare dimensions to a factory load that works or to SAMMI spec. Your sizing die may be out of specification or you may need a small base die. You may want to take your reloads to your gunsmith to have him help you.

    Brass rubbing off in chamber

Sounds like a good idea. I recently had to return a McGowan barrel to have the chamber polished as unfired Starline brass was sticking in the chamber at starting loads. It was sloppy reamer work and the crown badly cut. If the barrel didn't shoot as well as it does I was going to use it for a...

    New scope has me confused

A data free analysis rough guess is 0.3 mils at 2, 0.7 mils at 3, 1.5 mils at 4, 2.2 at 5, or from 100 yard zero up 3,7,15,22 clicks respectively. These numbers assume you go back to your zero and click up for each range. You have a lot of range work to do so happy shooting. I'd use the...
