EE Quilt vs Kuiu sleeping bag

Litehiker - I would certainly disagree with some of your post. I personally tried a quilt because I move around a lot at nite so for many years, I've not slept well in a mummy. They've always kept me warm but a poor nights sleep was my hope in switching to a quilt. So I agree they will be...

EE Quilt vs Kuiu sleeping bag

Muleys talker - I usually sleep in a base layer, not that it's needed for warmth but mainly because I don't like to get dressed in a cold tent with only underwear. Sleeping on a pad never causes me to sweat, quite the opposite. If it's too hot, a quilt is easier to vent just like a blanket.

EE Quilt vs Kuiu sleeping bag

You lay on your pad and the use the quilt similar to a blanket. Mine has a sewn in foot box which most have something similar although they make some that snap together so if you unsnap it, it would make a flat blanket. Mine also has "connections" on the sides which I rigged up some cord that...

EE Quilt vs Kuiu sleeping bag

I agree with you Wyodog. Drafts can be a concern/issue with a quilt. Mine has places where you can attach straps/cord which I put under the pad to minimize this issue. I also ordered the sewn in foot box so it's similar to a mummy in the foot area. Some have snaps that help keep the foot...

EE Quilt vs Kuiu sleeping bag

I do wear a stocking hat with my quilt buy also had to wear it with the mummy as tightening a hood made it much worse when moving around. I'd disagree with the thermal efficiency vs total weight issue since a quilt does not have zippers and draft tube, etc. So I think the weight of a 15 degree...

EE Quilt vs Kuiu sleeping bag

I have a Hammock Gear 15 degree quilt and will also never go back to a mummy again. I'd always wake up to change positions in a mummy and now I can move around much easier and don't wake up nearly as much. I was very reluctant to switch so I tried unzipping my mummy bag similar to the quilt...

    Can't decide on a daypack

It is tough like many things nowadays as there are so many choices and good packs to choose from. I bought a KUIU 1850 pack as well as their 6000 ultra (light) bag. I can backpack my gear in with the 6000 and take it off the frame in camp and put on the 1850. They are unbelievably light...
