Checked their site. They will refit with a new barrel for 455.00. It's a friends gun. I'll pass it on to him and he can decide. Thanks Short.

I believe after serial number 855,000 they changed and are not interchangeable with the older models..

Well, I just order the Burris 3-12. I see a lot of people shooting them so I guess I'll give it a try. I can always put the Nikon on my 22-250 788. That's what I bought it for in the first place. Hope I made the right decision.

I'm new to all this so this is just another addition to the ball of wax. Nothing is ever simple is it?. All I wanted was to buy a striker, scope it and have fun hunting with it. I didn't realize there are so many decisions to make. I wouldn't know where to start on having a new barrel put on it...

Thanks Ernie. Funny, being hungry for info, I already found the article. As long as I already have the 4-16, I'll give it a try before I spend money on the Burris. My main issue is with the low light gathering pistol scopes. Hunting big whitetails around here means sitting to the last minute...
