Why am i shooting to the left

Tall target is still valid. It’s not just checking a correction factor, but there can be a coupled effect on the windage adjustment. It would identify that. If you are talking head position, I’d look into how you adjust your scope’s parallax. If you have it set right, other than recoil...

    Ballistic calculator

Threee likely issues to have that big of a difference: 1) The calculation is set up for a G7 and you are inputing the G1 value. 2) The scope is set up in your ballistic calculator as milRAD and you are assuming it’s MOA. 3) Velocity is set up in your ballistic calculator as meters/sec instead of...

Short barrel 1000 yard elk cartridge

Some people are stuck on 338. Great caliber, but the heavy 30’s are out classing it in bullet design efficiency, so it’s becoming a comparison much like 308 vs 6.5Creedmoor. Yes, more initial energy, but fired at the same velocity the heavy 30’s will eventually overcome the difference. I’d...

AR-50 Velocity. I need to know what velocity i should be getting with my new AR-50 50 BMG

Hornady factory loads are on the hot side. Out of a 25” barrel I was getting 2540, SD of 15. From your AR50 with the longer barrel I would expect up near the advertised velocity of 2750 would be pretty close. If your looking for for a lot of good information, I’d invest the money in a...

Is my full-length sizing die toast?

You cannot have a gunsmith run a normal reamer in it as a chamber reamer is a larger size than a sizing reamer. Get a 1/2” or 12mm flex hone, 320 or higher grit. It will work on any standard bolt face size die (.473) for cleaning up surface rust/polishing without dimensionally changing it to...

    264 Win Mag LR bullets

If you’re trying to max out your BC, Higher twist rate means higher BC (1.8-2.0 are about right for fully maximizing BC). The advantage of lowest twist rate possible that short range bench rest shooters use for their game is outweighed by BC which has a more cumulative result out at range.

Low es/sd load that won’t shoot?

What bullet are you shooting and what twist rate? You may be marginally stable.

Do you put anything between your rings and scope tube?

Use powdered rosin when mounting scopes in rings. You can buy a ten-life supply from Miday or Brownells (1lb, 450gm for the metric types here) for $20-25. It’s one of it’s intended uses.

When Mother Nature Conspires Against You! By Darrell Holland

I've had very similar list of things in my field pack, to my disappointment, the blast match has been the most upsetting piece of survival gear I've owned. It works great in your back yard and show room floor, but the plastic becomes extremely brital in the cold. When I needed mine the striker...
