    Kenetrek waterproofness?

Use Kenetrek Mountain Guide NI, with no problems, including leakage, using their sealant, heavily when new and X2 every season, more with off season wear. Very comfortable. They aren't waders for the swamp, however.

    Binoculars for hunting and scouting

All very true, folks. You will want another rifle, but I went with the Leica binoculars 30? years ago for a grand and never looked back. They're great forever.

Why is there not much talk about Weatherby Rifles?

I have several. None are new or plastic. They all shoot very nicely and the ammo is expensive. For sure.

    Anyone hunting in the heat?

Hey, Raleigh guys. Hillsborough here heading east for black powder. If it's this hot, I don't think the deer will see me. Think cool.

Whether to use horse on DIY Colorado 3rd season elk hunt

Horse for an experienced rider which includes a wrangler, versus on FOOT? You must be a lot younger than I am. No question. Horse won't scare the elk anything like you would yourself. Don't deafen the horse, please. Have a great time.

I'm beside my self, if I only I could kick my self in the BUTT

Ahhh, the lessons of experience, that keep repeating themselves. I usually don't check for my range keys until I get there.

    Go ahead poke away ...

It's true, I confess. I think I the classic .270 is superior, especially if you already have one.

If you could only have 3 long guns, which would you choose?

Long guns meaning everything, 22LR, 12ga shotgun, .308 bolt. Man, I'll hate sawing off all the other stuff.

    Caliber Selection Recommendations?

300 WM all day long. You don't even have to reload if you don't want to.

    Buffalo Bore Ammo

Just from memory, there is no legal spec for +P+ even though some manufacturers used that designation. In current climate, BB is hot. Look after yourself as always and only use it in "arms in good condition." I use BB in.44mag and 10mm and it is stout stuff. Have not tried any recent loadings.

How do you drag game out?

    Fire? You use fire?

    Good quality pellet for rabbits?

My air rifles are annoyingly loud, more so than .22 shorts. Suppressed, I do anything I like, even of the 'tards are sitting on the deck.

    .243 Win. vs 6mm Creed.

I chose .243 so I don't have to add a come lately new caliber, no matter how well it may last, and toss a rose to my old .243 BB 700, which won a national competition with a series of one-holers back when, but generally resides in a safe. Think I'll take 'er out.

    300wm Rifle Weight

300 Winmag is great for old guys at 10lb with scope for all the above. I don't have custom, just Sako and Weatherby in 300s.

    Restoring 700 Bdl stock

Just don't make it look new. I worked on 18th century mahogany and walnut, using 10X steel wool very lightly. Hopefully what you have is an old stock from the 40s, 50s, or 60s. They can come up nicely with a cleaning and removal of a portion of old finish and reapplication. Never use stripper...
