First I want to thank you for your service! Thanks for the write up as well the 406 guys are doing some great things and I hope to attend a 406 training session soon.
I would go with a 6.5 as well, creedmore or 260 Remington are great options. For what you stated in your post I would lean towards the creedmore. Great ballistics for your listed ranges , not a powder hog and components for loading it will not break the bank. Good luck to you in whatever you decide.
I will not be making a real 26 Nosler. It's been done so why bother.

levi, take a look at the vortex HS-T new this year they have released the 6-24x50 it can be had in mill reticle and moa. And has a zero stop, which is very important in my opinion on a rifle that will be hunted hard. price is great as well.
