Your 280ai is running much higher pressure at "equal / higher velocities". The laws of physics are still in effect. Not hating the 280ai, I have one and it's a great cartridge but it isn't magic and it isn't going to hang with the PRC especially when pushing heavies.

I have an existing build that I'm rebarreling that will be a lot like yours.... Defiance/EH1/Bart #3. Just waiting on the new bolt. You're spot on with your measurements and will be right at .725 if you want to trim 1/2" of shank. I'm also going 21" with a TBAC Dominus. Who's your smith going...
