You have a big gap in those rings. Take a few pictures of the other side of the ring for gap comparison. Or better yet measure the gaps. Never had issues with vortex rings. But I will say I run NF rings on my NF scopes because they give you a higher torque setting and the NF scopes are tanks...

It’s pretty obvious here what happened. Especially since you indicate bulk ammo was involved. You likely dropped a 300bo into that bulk ammo in error. If it wasn’t bulk, and it instead in a box, or if you didn’t own 300bo, we could consider other possibilities. In this case, it’s 99% op error

You learned a lesson the hard way, but lived to tell the tale. I mark anything associated with 300bO with red tape. Mags, ammo box , rifle.

The size of the exit hole doesn’t make a difference in the reduction of perceived recoil. As such, It makes sense that manufacturers would standardize on the largest hole .30 to cover smaller calibers in that caliber group. Now a suppressor would be a different story relative to sound...

I’ve had this with Hornady off the shelf ammo with my Tikka. I just run a body die over the offenders and then all is good. If you have a Sheridan gauge you can run it through. That would tell you as well.

I see this more as a personal requirement depending on your needs. If you are competing, seems like you would want to follow the world class shooters. They have the time, resources, and equipment to devote to that brass and reloading effort. And they can’t afford a jam in competition especially...

That is one of your issues if you are using the default cartridge value in the pulldown. You need to measure your actual fired/trimmed brass for that value. For example in win 308, there can be a 3 grain difference in H2o capacity between lake city and lapua or winchester brass. QL doesn't know...

QL H2O Real H2 where are you getting QL H20 values from? I've never seen them listed in QL. It's a QL setting you have to supply after measuring your brass or using a typical known value, but maybe I'm learning something new here today. I am not aware of QL publishing those values .

The easy locking lever is a must for $20. But that is 20% of the typical purchase price of the bipod itself.
