SOLD/EXPIRED WTB ULA or NULA Model 20

I want a ULA or NULA model 20 rifle. Looking for the 308-based size rifle. Mel calls it the ultimate mountain rifle. I have put one of these off long enough. Caliber is a toss-up. I'd really like a 308, 6mm, 257 Roberts, 7/08, 284, or a 260 to start. Whatever I wind up with will likely go back...

Case& barrel life of 300 WSM vs. 7WSM

Daves 762, I'll try to hit the high points in some sort of order that MAY make sense. First, there really are very few cartridges that are "overbore" any more. With the selection of powders today, read incredibly slow, it just isn't so. We may run out of barrel, but there are usually suitable...

Best bow for long distant hunting

Take a look at APA Innovations. They actually manufacture the fastest bow on the market. They have some very nice innovations that others could have brought out, but didn't. The more I learn about them, the more I like them. I have shot one, and was VERY impressed. They are super quiet, and...

Need Rem mag box Part numbers PLEASE

Will someone please give me the Remington part numbers for the ultra mag "window" mag boxes for both the ADL and BDL? Whenever I tried to order the mag box, it seems that nobody at Remington knows what a WINDOW mag box is. THey always ask the serial number of the rifle, and it started out as a 7...

    338/06 Ackley sizing die reamer?

Does anyone have a sizing die reamer for the 338/06 Ackley? I need a regular 338/06 sizer reamed to Ackley configuration. It is a LEE die, and I've been told they aren't very hard. I could borrow.rent the die, but think it would be better for me just to send you the die and pay for your effort...

    What's our next step?

To Buffalobob and the others: Looking for Stoney Point turrets, I ran across this 'site. There is a significant savings over the Midway price. STONEY POINT Target Knob Leupold - K1L I also looked at Kenton Industries' turrets. While they ARE pricey, they just might be a better...

    What's our next step?

Well, Looks like we are pursuing our goals in a proper manner, anyway. We keep records we deem important, anyway. Mostly load data & velocities, along with group size & ranges tried. Lessee, I sorta figured turrets were gonna be our next item. What calibers? Geez, a LOT of them. They...

    What's our next step?

A bud & I decided to try & extend our practical hunting range. Last year we set up a range on my place. The farthest we could go was 400 yards, so we set target butts at 50yd increments. The bench is a pretty stable, heavy, Iron-framed picnic table. Decent adjustable front rest & rear bags. Thus...

Request to Kirby or other 'smiths...

Kirby, Thanks for the reply and instructions. Sounds pretty straightforward. One Q: " Basically, you will be cutting it back until your about 1/2 way through the small diameter screw hole ment for the ADL forward trigger guard screw." What if you're doing an ADL? Do you put something in...

Request to Kirby or other 'smiths?

Mr. Carlock, Thanks for the reply. You went right to the crux of the problem. The gunsmiths around here don't do any milling. They do lathe work, but that's about all, as far as metalwork goes. The guy that does milling isn't really a gunsmith, he's a carburetor guru. So yo can see my quandary.

Request to Kirby or other 'smiths...

Would one of the gunsmith types be so kind as to post some pics of a Wyatt's extended mag box being installed? I'd like to see just what kind of machining is involved in extending mag length. Should be essentially the same, whether long or short action, wouldn't it? If it makes any difference...

    scratch on die??????????

Jeff, Get some of the green 3M Scotchbrite scrubbing pads from your local grocery or dollar store. Cut off a piece about 1" X 1 1/2" - depends on die size. Slit the end of a short piece of appropriately-sized wood dowel, or wrap it on a brass brush, and use your cordless VSR drill to spin it...
