    Barrel Break-in and Moly Lube

Not trying to jack this thread but I'm fairly new to this Long range thing, so what do you mean by "letting the barrel tell you what to do"? I hate to admit it but I've always been a hunter and never really broke one in properly. I have a Stevens .223 I've been working on and it's getting close...

    North Florida Shooters

Sounds like fun Greg. I'm just getting my first long-range set-up together. Stevens 200 .223 with a Weaver Classic V 6-24x42mm. Going to live with the factory BBL and bed the Factory stock for now. Maybe we can hook up... Curt

Got my new Stevens 200-NOT so happy

Yes, I also found out that the stagger feed stocks can be modified to fit the centerfeed ones. All of these places you showed me have options I didn't know about, Thanks!

Got my new Stevens 200-NOT so happy

I think you are right on that, they are pillars made from steel so it's strange that they wouldn't just make them act like pillars and not just something to keep the stock from crushing. You get what you pay for.

Got my new Stevens 200-NOT so happy

I have a couple of vanguards I use for hunting and I love them, but I wanted to able to switch barrels and this would be difficult with the Howa/Vanguards. Otherwise I would rather have one of those. I do like the floating bolt head in the Savage/Stevens and that was another reason I went with...

Got my new Stevens 200-NOT so happy

Well, after all the reading about budget rifles, I went with the Stevens 200, .223. I wanted something I could start off slow with and still be able to shoot until I changed out everything, like the trigger, stock and BBL. the one thing I am concerned with is replacing the stock, but I wasn't...

    1000yd range in north Georgia

I'm pretty stoked on the location of that range, it's only 10 miles from my girlfriends house! I will be checking this place out as soon as my rig is complete.

    Best Lightweight Rifle under $2,000?

I have a 7mm-08 Weatherby Mark V Light Weight Carbine 20'BBL that I hunt with most of the time and I love it. It had a synthetic stock and was around 7 lbs. Then I put a nice wood stock on it, it's still really light. I love that short barrel! These are not hard to find and they are not...

    Howa Action

I bought a VGL 30.06 NOS a couple of years ago, made in 1988 and it is by far my favorite, even over my Mark v's. The factory trigger is a mere 2.5 ibs with zero creep. It's accurate, light and with that 20 barrel, it's great in tree stands! I've also had a 7mm mag in that VGL model, with a big...

Replacement stock for Stevens 200 short action center feed

Goose, that would be great if I could see those pics, thanks a bunch!

Replacement stock for Stevens 200 short action center feed

Maybe I haven't done my research. It appears that the center feed design hasn't been applied to the 223 or 204. Here's what SSS has to say: Savage Centerfire Action Length Identification. To help determine what action you have, here are the action screw center-to-center measurements...

Replacement stock for Stevens 200 short action center feed

OK, I have one of these (223) on order! I have done my research and it seems that the replacement stocks out there won't fit the new center feed short actions. The problem seems to be the way the magazine well is inletted. Can I use these aftermarket stocks if I only will be using the rifle as...

    Savage Classic 25

I've been looking at these and they look nice, but can I swap barrels and change calibers like the other savage actions? Anyone have one of these?

    North Florida Shooters

Hi, I am new to this site. I live in St.Augustine. I have a few hunting rifles but they tend to get hot as the barrels on them are thin. Currently I just go down to the Volusia co. range, it's nice but only 100 yards. I have the bug and I am either going to convert one of my rifles or start from...
