Looking for a factory 280AI rifle.

I did several butt stock slam tests on my work bench with zero ADs.

Looking for a factory 280AI rifle.

I don’t think the safety blade affects the trigger pull setting, but I don’t know for sure. The safety blade just forces the shooter to pull straight back, and will “misfire” or not fire if there’s any side pressure at all. A level of supervision I’m not looking for in a rifle trigger.

Looking for a factory 280AI rifle.

I have mine set at 2.0 lbs, which I like for a hunting rifle. Unsure how low you can go.

Looking for a factory 280AI rifle.

I found a video on line to remove the safety blade, maybe not the smartest move. The Timney trigger is the best option likely available, but I like Trigger Tech and they don't make them for Savage. I like the factory trigger pull without the safety blade. I'm the only person that uses the...

Looking for a factory 280AI rifle.

I have the Savage Ultralight in 280 AI, and I think it’s a good hunting rifle for the price. I’m not a fan of the AccuTrigger so I did away with the safety blade on it, and now it breaks consistently. The rifle was easy to develop loads for in the 160-162 bullet range. I’d buy another...

    Shooting in the West Valley

Cowtown is a cool facility, been there a couple of times. I moved from the Valley to Southern AZ, so not many long ranges down here. I do mostly desert shooting across draws.

    Anyone have a 280AI?

I’d be happy to, I think I have some Peterson and maybe Nosler that have been fired in my Savage Ultralight 280 AI. Send me your mailing info in a message, if you want.

$1000 or less Hunting scope advice for Rem 700 30.06

You’ve had some bad luck! Of all my sporting arms, hardware, and optics, I’ve only had one warranty return.

$1000 or less Hunting scope advice for Rem 700 30.06

Fair enough, you have good reason to not be impressed with Athlon’s customer service record. Have you also had negative experiences with the other 5 companies you named in your post?

    280AI 195 Berger EOL & N560 Pressure Concern

That's showing definitive signs of over pressure. The software programs are good places of reference, but flattened primers and stiff bolts together are positive pressure signs. Me personally, I'd go down by tenths, find the beginning point of stiff bolt lift, then go down 0.5 grains for...

$1000 or less Hunting scope advice for Rem 700 30.06

“I have my own reservations about Bushnell, Athlon, Zeiss, Burris, Riton, and Blackhound (there's more but this is just off of the top of my head) in regards to actually honoring their lifetime warranty and the time it may actually take to get a repair or replacement.” What negative experience...

Ukrainian sniper kill at 2.36 miles-ballistics?

So, with a real rough calculation on my Strelok ballistic calculator, taking data from the Barrett website on their .50 cal page, at 4100 yards, a little short than the 4163 yards that 2.36 miles is, Muzzle data vel=2800 fps. Muzzle energy=11507 ft/lbs 4100 yds data. Vel=641 fps...

Dillion 550 for precision rifle loading?

I have a 550, but when I’m doing my long range hunting ammo, I pretty much use it as a single stage. It’s about a 16-step process, and I’m just using the press for sizing/deprime, place primers in the case, and seat the bullet. All the other steps are out of the press.

$1000 or less Hunting scope advice for Rem 700 30.06

After decades of the classic scope companies such as Leupold, Weaver and other midrange brands, I have 3 Maven and 2 Athlon scopes. I think the glass is very good, the tracking/box drill is very good, and the prices are competitive. We are really in the golden age of optics, with many great choices.

    2023 Early Kaibab West Hunt

Nice buck! I’m heading up next week for the late 12B West hunt and I’m really excited. 16 resident points, well worth it. Like you, I have been putting mainly for the 13 units, but I don’t think you or I settled by going to 12.
