7828 ssc what can i expect

7828 SSC is a powder I use in my 7mm Rem mag. I also use it my .243 Win with 90 grain Nosler ABs. Works great.

    Peterson 7mm Rem Mag Graf’s

I guess I better take a closer look to see if any of it is not Peterson. I just looked through the bag and it appeared it was all Peterson.

    Peterson 7mm Rem Mag Graf’s

Just wanted to let everyone know the factory seconds “Major Us Manufacturer” 7mm Rem Mag brass is for sale at Graf’s. I ordered 200 and and received Peterson brass. It all looks pretty good, with a few water spots, and a couple of them were darker brass. No damaged necks. Just orderd 200...

    Speer varmint bullet

Been shooting TNTs for 26 years in calibers from 22 to 30. They are one of my favorite bullets, and very accurate in most rifles I have used them in. I just wish Speer would crank more out. Along with most other companies, their availability accept for 22 cal has been sporadic to low.

    Factory seconds

I have bought and used Nosler seconds for years. After buying and observing many different calibers and weights here are my observations. A majority of the bullets look and shoot well. Some had obvious problems beyond what I would consider blemishes. These include: hollow points whose holes...

    Winchester M70 long range

Yes sir, I guess calling them junk might have been a little harsh, however the work it took me to get mine to an acceptable level required custom ordering of springs and stoning inside surfaces. And while that can turn out well, it doesn’t always. Some people really like them as they are, and...

    Winchester M70 long range

The trigger on the FN model 70s, made first in the North Carolina Plant, then parts sourced in the USA shipped and made in Portugal, do not have the older style trigger of the post 64 models. The older trigger is easily adjustable and also easy to replace springs on. The new Model 70s have a...

    Winchester M70 long range

Last time I called trigger tech, about 4 months ago, they told me that they had no plans to design a trigger for the FN model 70; that was the second time I had asked them in the last 4 years. My experience with their triggers so far has not been that great, not sayin their triggers are bad...

    Winchester M70 long range

The new FN model 70s are good to go accept for the triggers. I lightened mine by replacing springs, but they aren’t like any trigger I have worked on. The MOA trigger system is garbage in my opinion. Some will disagree. I wish Jewell would make one. I called and they said they did not plan...

    Nosler, what’s up???

I visited Nosler Pro Shop twice this summer. The pro shop has a different selection of bullets than the website, although inventories overlap some. The 180 grain coated accubonds were available for close inspection. Overall they looked pretty good, but the bullet heels had some small...

Fast twist 270 win (270 Northerner)

I just finished a 270 Win Remington 700 Mountain Rifle build with a 1-9 PacNor 22” barrel. I am thinking I should have went a little faster with the twist. My plan is to shoot 150 ABLRs to 600-700, I think it will be fine with that combination and the slower twist should gain a little more...

    Worst Post Shot Powder Smell

Eley Rimfire is the worst I have smelled. Never cared for it and alway wondered if it was bad for the inside of my barrel and lungs! Black powder next of course!

Reviews of newer winchester model 70

I have a couple New Havens, and a couple of the South Carolina FNs. They are all solid, blur the machine work is better on the South Carolina guns. Caming the bolt is much smoother on the FN models. They new FN models may be the best Winchester 70s ever built in my opinion. I wish Jewell...

Thoughts on Hammers on elk (out of a 6.5 CM)

I know you didn’t ask about it, but I have seen a large cow elk taken with a 130 grain accubond, just over 500 yards with the 260 Remington. Where did the bullet hit? In the heart. The bullet was recovered in the offside front leg knuckle. The shot was from approx 30 degrees looking down.
