    Designing the perfect bullet box

Well I am back at it again guys. Got a dual head printer and I am making these. The black material is comparable to a oring and I am able to print it into the plastic box. Each round has its own oring to keep it from sliding around. You can submerge the box in water and it will keep your ammo...

I have been thinking the same thing about the recessed oring. wondering if it would roll out or not. I like that idea a lot!

    Designing the perfect bullet box

Hey guys just a little update... I bought a second printer as I have a side business going where I am designing and printing off some industrial parts. I will continue this project as soon as I get caught up on my latest parts run. When I drew my cad model for my bullet box, I did it in such...

I am pretty happy with fit and finish on the bottom. I think I will experiment with the oring to hold the lid in place and help with water. The 300 ultra mag shells had a few thou clearance and slid in and out nicely.

Ok truck hunters. A 13 shell holder for your truck cup holder. This will keep your bullets from banging around the center console and in reach for when that monster bull stops in the road. 🦌

    Designing the perfect bullet box

First trial didn't work so well. First time using this fillament. The print temp was too low and it didn't bond well. Also the chamfered edges didnt load from the cad program. It was successful enough to make some improvements. The bullets fit too tight and I needed to force them all the way...

This looks like my exact setup!! Only I use red boxes and haven't incorporated the special latch system. 😂

    Designing the perfect bullet box

I like the foam idea, and I may line the inside of the lid. One of the advantages to printing these is how easy it can be. I drew the cad file in such a way that I only have to adjust 5 measurements for each cartridge. The box and lid dimensions have preset wall thickness and the dimensions...

I tried some Nylon carbon fiber the other day and it seemed to do ok. Are you drawing items up in cad and printing them or just printing stl files?

That would be a must for sure. You think making them a standard .25" longer than the Saami standards would be sufficient?

    Designing the perfect bullet box

Update. I started the print yesterday and its looking pretty good. I am by no means a professional with cad or 3d printing so there will be learning along the way. I am noticing some voids in the print using this new fillament, so Ill need to fix that. Also looking at some higher temp...

I am going to try a interference type latch. Basically a ball and a hole to keep the lid on. 👍

    Designing the perfect bullet box

Looks like I need to have 10 posts before I can DM. I have been a member since 2011. I suppose I should post more. 😂. I hunt out of state every year and we pack in about 4 miles. When I leave camp to hunt for the day I usually take a minimum of one box, sometimes 2. Its less about my shooting...

    Designing the perfect bullet box

I checked my settings and didnt see a PM toggle on/off? Ideas? Not sure why it wont send a pm. Next idea is a 6 shooter cylinder that fits in your truck cup holder. Not sure how many rounds is would hold but would certainly help organize shells and keep them secure for the truck hunters. I...
