Is the 243 the best whitetail deer cartridge?

My 700 rem is a hammer with 100 grain Sierra Game Kings. I was just out shooting this afternoon and hits on a 12 plate a 300 yards were way to easy!

    Long Range build

Take a look at the Greyboe stocks. They are an offshoot of McMillian with a similar build quality as McMillan. I have recently replaced a Bell & Carlson with a Greyboe Renegade. The Renegade is a copy of the McMillan A5 that is licensed copy. It is an injection molded fiberglass rather than...

Killing chipmunks is about to get serious damnit!

PCP air rifle require a bit on the commitment side. You cannot charge the tank with your air compressor. Most of them run 3000psi. They are either filled from a scuba tank of a hard to pump high pressure bike pump. Spring powered guns tend to be fussy. You cannot leave them cocked for...

    air rifle

I have owned Chinese rifles (still have a BAM PCP), RWS , Weihrauch and Air Arms TX200. Of all of them the TX200 was the nicest shooting most accurate rifle. One thing to keep in mind is it is a field target gun so it is heavy and not the best to carry around all day. But the trigger is the...

    AR Stock choices

I just built this one as more of an SPR or DMR... I had a carbine tube with a Magpul Stock and it just didn't feel like a rifle you could settle into to try to shoot it well. I ended up with an A2 stock and I like it. Feels much more like a "real" rifle.

Changes to the Great American Outdoor Show

I agree with you about people being inconsiderate...but that not unique to this show, that is people in general. Being that I am 6'3" and I'm a big boy I usually get right up behind people who are being inconsiderate in that manner and say excuse me. When they turn around and all they see is...

Changes to the Great American Outdoor Show

I put this in the Northeast section because I am not sure where else to put it...I am from the Harrisburg area and grew up going to the Sports and Outdoors Show. I as a kid I always looked forward to see the motorcycles and snowmobiles and boats. In the last few years of the show...I felt like...

    Rings for weaver bases

I have used Burris Zee Rings and they are good. Lately I have been using the 2 hole and 3 hole Weaver tactical style rings. They are very solid and reasonable priced. I have 30mm 3 holes on my 308 and my 243. I have a 308 ruger american that has one inch 2 hole rings.
