For a decade I’ve shot the 175grn LRX in my 300WM and killed probably a dozen big game animals with it. Works great. I never tried the 190grn LRX but if it’s not broke……
Thanks. I’ll probably do that. In my mind I’m limited in mag length to 3.85” vs 3.7” so I can go out to .15”. From what I’ve read in the past most people will do freebore of .1 to .15” max on the 300WM. I don’t have the barrel length to get the velocity I would want or twist to stabilize .308...
I’ve hunted for years without bipods because they weigh so much. I’ve used hiking sticks crossed many times, tree branches etc. I’m just looking to see if anything new is on the market that is lighter and sturdier. I have some bipods but they are too heavy to lug around the woods for a week elk...
Many of you listen to hunting podcasts I listened to "Elk Talk" today and the anti hunting crowd has hidden a bunch of stuff in this "cat hunting ban" initiative they are trying to get on the ballot it is NOT something in Colorado that will help hunters. It is a foot in the door for even more...
I’m installing a replacement rem/age barrel on my 300WM. I got new bottom metal for the ACIS 3.85” mags so I want to freebore the barrel. Plan is to load the longer bullets with better BC and take advantage of them with switching to the 300PRC. Before I freebore the barrel what would you all...
I’ve had pretty good luck with 127grn Barnes LRX factory loads. They penetrate like nothing else. I’ve not shot Hammer bullets but they are similar being a copper bullet.
I’m new to this. I’m rebuilding my 300WM (shot out factory barrel) to a remage with longer bottom metal and mags. I ordered an X-caliber carbon barrel with 1-9 twist in December. I’m wondering how much Freebore I need to put in the chamber. I’m thinking .01 or .015? What are you all experiencing?
