I have the Savage Target F/TR rifle in .308.... I wonder if there is a way to 'lighten' the rifle up a bit. Trim the barrel & change the stock maybe? 30" is a long, heavy son of a gun. I know it's not going to be a mountain-rifle but it could be better...

An oven would be great, even home-made. I'm into cars too, so I could powder-coat with it.. I'll have to look at oven plans.

in my case (Glock) the dove-tail where the front and rear sights go I'll have to be careful of the coating getting in there or the sights may not go back in. Yeah the sand-paper won't work I usually follow instructions to the letter also. How are you planning on baking your rifle at 250 ??

I still think enough 'tooth' could be put into metal parts with the correct grit of sand-paper but he said no of course. Doesn't mean I won't try it. There's a great video of the whole process on youtube, the degreasing looks super-important. $36 isn't bad.

okay I just called them and he didn't want to give me the username and password because they have a NEW website going live tomorrow that doesn't need it. He gave me some pointers on the cerakote-redo I want to do on my Glock too.. Guess you need a sand-blaster...

like a full-size automotive spraygun or an air-brush of some kind ? sounds good, cerakote looks much better than DuraCoat..

I'm having the same problem... Hopefully someone knows. Also are you looking for air-dry or 'bake-on'. I noticed Brownells had both types.

The 6.5 Carcano ammo I just got from Hornady for my Carcano measured out at .266... I thought it strange since Hornady announced not long ago some .268 bullets (160 gr RN) for the Carcano I figured that's what this ammo would have so the .266 reading on my new digital calipers surprised me...

I still think these VLD's could give the 6.5-284 a run for it's money... 270 is an incredible caliber with not very many bullet choices...

they are 2 different guns: the model 111 Long Range Hunter has a sporter barrel and an accustock the model 110 FCP-K (police) has a heavy barrel and an HS Precision stock $979 or $1217 @ Buds guns.... I'm drooling over either one right now...

I prefer the 7mm Ultra Mag and yes because I own one. Factory barrels have come a long way from 15 years ago I guess because these big magnums are quite accurate. I've had many 0.6" groups at 100 yards and havn't even tried bergers or scirocco's yet... I'm sure the STW comes close to 7rum...
