SOLD/EXPIRED **MOTHER of all AR500 Steel Targets Group Buys!!

pm sent, question regarding 24x12 rectangle, could this have more than 2 mounting holes to enable vertical hanging? If not, any advise on drilling this material, or will any drill bit eat thru it eventually.

    SOLD/EXPIRED WTB savage barrel

It is very simple once you get all of the tools and do it. I change barrels very frequently- savage is now my switch barrel platform replacing the single shot rifle platform I previously used. It is very addicting if you like to toy around with different chamberings just for the heck of it...

WSM lawsuit is screwing everything up

I heard he was getting $50/gun royalties for guns chambered in WSM, is this true? If so, manufacturers will have a hard time offering them in their lower cost products.

    Reloading: Beating the dead horse

I dont think I am old, but maybe Im well on my way. So I have to offer something you should take constructively. Patience, and lots of it. I dont think you can "spend" your way to your goal. You have to take it slowly and learn along the way. Trial and error, with and emphasis on error...

high value low cost optics, scopes binoculars, spotters ect.

I am seeing 3 camps here, and am going to side with ScotE - the rational one. However, if this were "run-of-the-mill hunting forum", I would be all in with what savageman is pushing. I think you are taking it to an extreme in place where some really need what others push at the other extreme...

Can I headspace a Savage with a piece of once-fired brass?

I always use a go gage, have about 14 barrels bouncing around on 4 actions so I need the piece of mind that I always set them the same. The good thing is that most gages will work for a family of chambers. I would never use virgin brass because I do not trust all to be the same. Could run...

To go Improved or not on 338 Lapua

a less honest man would have called that 600m group a 10 shot group with 5 going thru the big hole in the middle of your plate:)

    Looking at Sharps

I read on the internet (makes me an expert??) that the 3.25" chambering (45-120) was more sesitive to get shooting well with black powder. Most people who went down that road eventually went with one of the shorter options. I found the 2.4" (45-90win) was well recommended by the black powder...

    steel targets with big bores?

Finally got to shoot at my 3/8" ar500 targets. at 200 yds, 220 swift (53gr @3900) left prominent marks in the steel. 6.5x284 (140gr @ 2700)barely scratched it 445sm (240gr @ 2300) did no damage Speed is the killer so I wont use the 220 swift at that close range anymore. I could hear the...

    6.5x284 loads, anything but 4831

I worked up to 53.8 hh1000, and only getting 2750fps. One of those had blue material around the primer in 95 deg temps. Hodgdon says this is what I should be getting roughly with 53.5 which is rare for me. I usually reach their number before I reach their max load weight. I am moving on to...

    Barrel Set back - concerns

First thing I did was run the barrel nut all the way down. When I get the gages I will see how it headspaces, should be fine. I guess my way to test for accuracy will be a few shots.

    Barrel Set back - concerns

Bought a used savage barrel and it is about 1/2 inches shorter and the threads extend into the factory stampings. I think this barrel was set back and rechambered - same cartridge 220swift. Is there any other concerns than that the barrel threads on well and was chambered properly. If it was...

    steel targets with big bores?

for those who use these often, what is the benifit of the 1/2? Is it louder? Or just more durable? And, how loud are these, can you hear the hit with earmuffs on and the target 300yds away?
