The 1st thing when building a load.....

lol, this has turned into a crazy thread.. My point has been missed it seems...... All I'm saying is measure your seating depth FIRST, .001" off the lands is perfect I'd say. Then shoot your loads, do you business whatever you feel like doing I don't really care, once you find a good load...

    Horizontal stringing in .243

Kinda funny... I'm almost in the same position.. Just bought a .223 Rem Tactical with B&C stock for 500$ at a gun show last week - Shot groups today, 5 shots total and I got more than 1 set of 3 shots in 1 hole and 2 shots in 1 hole, so there are 2 holes on the paper out of 5 shots... but...

The 1st thing when building a load.....

I have some questions... True or False - Does changing seating depth alter the pressure of a load ever so slightly? True or False - Does changing the primer from std to mag alter the pressure of the load ever so slightly? True or False - Does changing the manufacturer of your brass alter the...

The 1st thing when building a load.....

You all are just telling me what you were taught. Meaning you were told to do something because you can't think for yourself... I've given you all the information you need to base your decision off of. Instead you all just say... well it works sometimes because it just works, we don't really...

The 1st thing when building a load.....

Kid? Anyways... I notice this forum is full of hard head's who all are like sheep and only know what they were taught... I said START with seating depth, before you start with bullets or powder.. that's it... find your seating dept as close as you feel comfortable to your lands and then build...

It takes a very well put together rifle and some very consistent reloading and shooting techniques... keep practicing consistency! If you need to shoot 2 shots into the ground to make a tight 5 shot group... then that's just the way your gun is. I'd suggest never buying a sporter barrel for...

Yes floating is easy, a rod and some sand paper, then oil it.... done... Look on youtube, I'm sure there are some videos As for the 3-5 in the ground - it's to get your barrel heated up, you will almost always notice this on any gun, floated, blue printed, anything... when your barrel is warm...

The 1st thing when building a load.....

Eat your popcorn while re-reading my post... Those loads that like the "jump" are not your best loads, it's just what you have found because your either "A" doing it wrong or "B" lazy...

Ok do some trigger work and try a barrel de-resonator, also is it floated, if not float it yourself it's easy. I've shot a gun just like yours and the best thing was to literally shoot 3-5 shots in fast succession into the ground and then shoot your groups.

    Rifle Basix Trigger Question

I have one on my .17HMR and I love it for accuracy, but for out in the field, lets just say keep the barrel pointed at the ground when you close the bolt...

I've never used a torque wrench on my guns, ever.. maybe I have a calibrated elbow... who knows... tight is tight... anyways I shoot very well with all my rifles and haven't seen this issue, my guess would be barrel heating up, do you have a sporter barrel or bull barrel? try a barrel...
