What is the the most flat shooting cartridge yall can think of?

I agree, the .257 Weatherby is just about as flat as you’re going to get. If you go high bc, I shoot a 108 APEX out of my 25-06 ai at 3,435 fps. The Weatherby would push that about another 100 fps. The g1 on that bullet is around .600. It’s unnerving how fast you can see those impacts at 925...

    280 AI

I found it to get me about 50 fps more than 4831sc.

    .308 w/ Heavy Bullets

I think you would land in a relatively similar place velocity wise. The charge weights max out at around 180 grain bullet weights. Meaning, your load manual is going to tell you about the same load of varget….or whatever powder you’re using…..for a 180, 190, 200, 208 etc. like within a grain...

    280 AI

Reloader 26 is definitely slower than 4831. I think 22,23 are in the same general ballpark but slower.

    .308 w/ Heavy Bullets

All, I have been messing around with 308 lately. I was initially working with 130 class monos trying to run them fast. In my particular rifle, I could not get them to group. So I just went the other direction, if I cannot get high velocity, I'll get ridiculously high bc. Granted, this is all...

    280 AI

I’m replying to my own thread here…… RL23 is extremely temp stable. I probably had RL22 in mind when I wrote this. While I do not have first hand experience with RL22 (though I own some), I have spent some time with RL23 at this point. I find it to be extremely consistent, very stable and...

    Hornady Brass Opinions

I consider Hornady to be at the bottom of the pile as far as brass goes. It’s very soft. I bought 200 rounds of 25-06 factory eldx for a 25-06ai that I have. After firing it in the chamber. I’m loading the first batch now. Half of the primer pockets are quite loose. I’m not sure I will even get...

    Lightweight Rifle Build

Talk to me about scopes you would recommend. I have tried a bunch and keep coming back to the good ol' Leupold VX HD series. For obvious reasons I find something like the Athlon Cronus to be easier to make long range shots with (like a lot easier) but mounted on a hunting rifle it throws the...

    Lightweight Rifle Build

    Lightweight Rifle Build

I build a couple rifles a year and what I’m dreaming up is an ultralight rifle. I bought a Sako 85 carbon light in 308 last year but sold it because of these drawbacks: -The recoil was snappy and I could not spot my shots - Accuracy was good for a factory rifle but nothing amazing. ……in that...

    Speer impacts.

No field experience yet but I am trying them in my 300 WSM. So far they have been very accurate. There is a great video of them being tested by Frontline Rejects. What caught my eye was the diameter of the expansion and the weight retention. I haven’t heard anyone say anything but positives...

    Anyone using PVA Cayuga bullets?

I know it’s an old thread but it seems pretty clear to me that the Cayuga is, in fact, tumbling in this photo. The lung on the left looks like a keyholed target. I imagine that’s why they are causing so much damage.

    Reloader 26/Short Barrels

280 AI 6.5 Creedmoor 300 WSM If you see load data with H4350, Hunter, H100v, reloader 16, 17 or N550…….its going to work in that cartridge. I got great velocity and accuracy out of the 280 ai but the SD was atrocious. There was a lot of empty space in that case. For me it has worked best...

    Reloader 26/Short Barrels

Maybe, but I was also measuring a fair amount of case head expansion in the 20 inch barrel. I could tell I was pushing near the top already.
