Large Rifle primer usage instead of 209 shotgun primer

I used Knights LR primer adapter in my Knight MK 85 .54 calibermany years age. It seems to be very reliable. I never had any misfires or hang fires with it. I used it to kill an elk with it in 2001. I haven’t used it since, having never been drawn for a muzzle loader hunt since then. One...

What gun did you want that was never made ?

.22 TCM rfle. Built like a .22 long rifle. No locking lugs, cheap looking wood. Lousy inletting. Cheap looking and over priced. Caliber would have great in a quality fire arm.

How far out will you kill an elk by yourself?

Take salt and pepper on your hunt. Then you can eat it where it falls. I drew a Dec cow hunt. I’ll be almost 73 years old. Hope I can find a partner.

Whats the worse rifle or gun you ever bought ? I hsve several tied

Ruger M77 Alaska .338 WM. Barrel had really bad boring scratches. Looked like threads. fouled badly. After repeated attempts of cleaning, the gun would shoot 1 to 1 1/2 inch groups. groups opened up gradually after being shot. Over 6 inches after 20 shots, and bore was copper coated again. Sent...

    10mm handgun

Don’t know where you were told you had to shoot “neutered” loads. I’ve had my Delta for over 30 years and i’ve only shot regular loads in it and it’s still hanging in there. Granted, I don’t shoot extensively with it. I use it, not abuse it. I even have some heavy loads for my .45 ACP. If I...

    10mm handgun

1911ish grip. Why not a 1911. I have a Delta Elite. Love it.

    7prc > 7rm ??

If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it! If you are happy with the 7mm, stick with it. I like my belted mags, but I have never been a fan of the mag belts. Too many variables when reloaded. If you set your die to headspace off the belt, you run the risk of setting the shoulder back every time you...

    7mm STW or 28 Nosler?

I really like my 7mm STWs, but if I had to start over with “super” mags, I’d go with the 28 Nosler. I don’t care for belted cartridges, but they were necessary evils. I have a new factory 7mm RM that i am thinking about rechambering to a 28 Nosler. BTW, I am not trashing my STW until the barrel...

TARGET BULLETS ARE NOT HUNTING BULLETS!

I have never used target bullets for big game. I don’t have a problem using them on varmints. I’m sure they have killed big game, but they are designed for extreme accuracy, not terminal performance. Just my opinion. To each his own. It’s a personal choice. I once shot a deer with my 6.5 Rem Mag...

    New build, 7mm rem mag?

I’m going to be the oddball. I like the REM 7mm mag. got some myself. They’ve always performed admirably. But, they have one big draw back. That stinking belt. Don’t need them. They worked great on the long sloping .300 and .375 H&H cases. I will probably never get another one. In fact, I will...

If you could only have 3 long guns, which would you choose?

Modifying my three slightly. Sticking with the .22LR and 12 guage shotgun. Changing my .30-06 to a switch barrel. That way I could have a wide variety of calibers and by hand loading I could duplicate dozens of calibers

favorite powder for 45-70 modern loads?

I’ve been using Shooters World Buffalo Rifle powder. I use cast bullets exclusively. I use 27 grains behind a 535 grain bullet and 31 grains behind a 385 grain bullet. I use the 535 grain bullet most. I shoot long range silhouette out to 880 yards with Sharps, Win 1885s and rolling block rifles.

    Custom action options

DO NOT BUY A SOLUS!!!! I bought on almost a year ago intending to build a 6.5 PRC. I bought action with the .308 bolt face intending to make it a switch barrel. I bought the unique barrel wrench so I could build my rifle. I was told that I could just order a Magnum bolt face. Wrong! I have...
