Go in Light and Come out Heavy - Which Pack?

Now have the Stone Glacier Terminus. It's a legit pack with good design around hauling loads. I've been running 40 pounds as a tester and its a joy to pack. The frame design is much different than anything out there now even though it may have similar looks. It was well thought out. At a little...

    Alaskan Sheep

Several rules you will need to abide by; You must have a guide for Grizzly/Brown Bear, Sheep and Goat until you have lived in Alaska for 12 consecutive months. In certain areas of Southeast Alaska, you'll need a special permit to hunt black bear without a guide under "non-resident status"...

    rifle back pack?

I've been using the Dragonfly. Put it to the test with a hideous burden. Hiked out a moose on a walk in hunt making trips with quarters and gear from the kill site 2 miles from the truck. 2 miles aint much distance but its no small feat having made 4 trips to pack out a moose between 2 people...

    Kimber 8400

I had some issues with my 84M .308 when I first got it. I made several trips to the range with many types of ammo from different brands, weights and bullet constructions. I found that the barrel was not free floated completely and there was undo pressure on the barrel from the stock. I ended...

Flashlight for multiple day backpack hunt???

About 2.8 ounces for Surefire Backup with the battery, About 2.3 ounces for Nitecore Tactical R2 with battery. These are small, bright, palm of your hand sized lights. They are tough too. They arent dive lights but I have never had issues with them getting dunked in water or rained on or...

    Backpacking Handgun holsters??

If you have a Eberlestock or similar with MOLLE web on the waist belt part of the pack, you could attach a Serpa to the MOLLE with a Serpa MOLLE attachment accessory. I've been using a Turtle Tracks chest holster for a while. Wears like a mini pack on your chest with straps that go around your...

Flashlight for multiple day backpack hunt???

For just a regular flashlight I've had a Surefire Backup (110 lumen max) or used a Nitecore Tactical R2 (200 lumen max). Both awesome little lights for your regular flashlight. Small, light and run off one CR123. The surefire has a dual setting for hi or low beam and the nightcore has a...

Which 1-2p tent for backpacking in alpine environment?

I would go with the Hilleberg. Nammatj 2GT or Nallo 2GT. You can sleep in the tent and put ALL your gear in the vestibule leaving things cozy inside the tent. Spendy but worth it. As far as weight to strength ratio, they are hard to beat for an alpine tent. Only downside is they are not free...

Boots for Hunting high / backpacking

I would take a good hard look at Lowa Hunter GTX. I'm on year 4 with my set. I've have crampons on them climbing in the winter, hiking in the summer, been in high alpine and scree, rough trails and everything in between. They are well worth the money.
