Well, I talked to my old man and it made the decision easy. He said I could borrow it for a 2 week hunt I have planned here shortly. He said if I liked it, then I could buy it. Sounds like a win/win.
If your set on vortex, I would suggest the strike eagle 4-24 over the new diamondback tactical. They are close to the same price. Neither is great glass, but the strike eagle glass is much better than the diamondback. The reticle is etched in the strike eagle from my understanding.

This is my experience. Some rifles wouldn't shoot to my expectations.... I now only keep rifles that shoot .5 MOA or better. Never had a regret selling any that shot worse than that. I've sold a few that shot real well and regret it. I've learned my lesson. Never know when you need a spare...
I took a video so I could see where the crosshair was before and after while adjusting... The crosshair didn't change overall but it was like it was magnifying the image. Much more noticable than any other optic I have used. Hard to explain. Much different than my past vortex or current...
