Need advice on caliber for Moose and bear in Alaska.

Not really. If you read the thread people that live up here have spoken multiple times not only does almost no one hunt with those but it's not readily available.

Interesting article on bear spray vs. bear handgun defense

Kills more humans than any other cartridge if we exclude war.

    Rok Stock

The echolon stocks have some negative comb, but not as much. Tikka and rem700.

    short vs long mag

Short action mags run on medium or long actions gets about the most performance you're going to get out of something, but you're full custom to get there. Except for tikka, you can just do a barrel on those. A 7WSM with something like the 190 EOL seated out to over 3.00, out of a long or medium...

    Rok Stock

Negative comb reduces felt recoil and muzzle rise. The rokstock is probably the most aggressive I've seen, but there's only a few stocks out there with negative comb and it should be almost all of them for bolt guns. There is massive value for any hunter in doing everything you can to be able...

Caliber combination for prairie dog hunting?

Not normally, but you mentioned a slower twist. The only reason to do that is if something is coming apart. If the 55's shoot fine, run the 8 twist, or even get a 7 to shoot the heavy 22's.

That'd be cheaper for sure, but do you have issues with the 55gr vmax coming apart in your 1-8? Have you tried the new 62gr ELD-VT? 77gr TMK would be fine to.

What is it with dweebs on YouTube?

Ya, that's bad. He had a one shot challenge going, that I liked because that's more of a hunting scenario that what your groups are.

Bush wasn't in office when that law was signed.

There's the token box of 375h&h and even ruger on the shelf on occasion but it's north of $100 a box anymore. There's a single box of 338 RPM on the shelf at sportsmans for over $100 that I think has been there for over 4 years. And there's usually a box or 2 of 338LM in that $120-150 range...

Honestly the only thing you'll reliably find over 30cal is 45-70. People just don't go to the range with much bigger than a 308win and they rarely hunt with anything bigger than a 300wm.

It's just not common. One of the chains can order it for you and they wont charge shipping to their store, but they don't stock stuff almost no one shoots.

Try finding it anywhere on the shelf in Alaska. You wont. And the selves are fully stocked.

Except for shot placement. And in this analogy, that's like the turbo or nitrous. Kicks the ever living crap out of displacement and gets better mpg doing it. 223 in the head > 50bmg in the butt. When it comes to DG 223 in the head > 50BMG to the heart/lungs. Their both dead, but the 223 in...
