Need help with Hornady 178 ELD-M for 308.

I have also been struggling with these in my 300 SAUM. The rifle shoots 168gn ABLR and 178gn ELD-X into one hole groups. The 178gn ELD-M, not so much. For those who have had success with these bullets, are you able to help with the jump/jam you have set for them? I have an extended magbox so...

Orange oil wood polish for rifle stock?

Orange oil won't polymerise, it is always wet and will be displaced by water. I wouldn't use it on a stock that I intended to use outdoors.

Anyone know where 8208 powder is?

First I setup the weighting factor for the case, it is probably more of an OCD thing than practical. Ba is an adjustment, but so is a0 and b whilst z1 tends to be static, on particularly large charges or long barrels you may find a better match across a string of loads as you work up from low...

Anyone know where 8208 powder is?

Sorry, I would have no idea. A quick google suggested H335. https://www.castpics.net/LoadData/Thunderbird%20powder%20Info.pdf Dupont 8208 (sold as Thunderbird 322) is the powder that XBR 8208 sought to emulate.

Anyone know where 8208 powder is?

The size of the granule, the type and amount of coating, the micro fissures within the granule are the things that change burn rate, reaction of that burn rate to pressure and heat, and volume are the things that products like Quickload seek to model. FWIW AR2209 and AR2217 (H4350 and H1000...

Anyone know where 8208 powder is?

Sorry to burst your bubble.... Whilst IMR 8208 is marketed as an IMR powder, as others have said, it is made in Australia as part of the Hodgdon 'Extreme' line. The closest to what I would call BM 8208 is either BM2 or AR2206H. That would be XBR8208, BENCHMARK and H4895 respectively. AR2208...

    Howa mini actions?

As indicated, the Superlite action is just a bit longer. Whilst a competent worker could fudge that in a Mini stock, the main issue is the stock is cut to accept a much larger magazine. Instead of 55mm (2.2in) long cartridges, the Superlite is handling 72mm (2.8in) long cartridges. That is a...

    Howa mini actions?

The Superlite is based off a Mini action. The bolt body is 6mm longer (1/4in). The bolt lugs have a larger sweep. The action is 6mm longer. The rear bridge is shortened to increase the size of the cutout for feeding and ejecting. The attached photos are against a Howa Mini rebarreled to 6mm...

    Howa mini actions?

That would be a 100gn Nosler Ballistic Tip. Flattens my local deer and pigs very emphatically out to 200 or so without a problem. More broadly, some of the chassis systems give feeding problems with the Howa magazine system as they have incorrectly set the action height above the magazine...

.264 Win Mag: Any downside with starting with a bone-stock Rem Sendero?

A friend of mine is wanting to build a 264 Win, it has been his halo rifle for many years but he wanted to do it right. It will be a deliberate hunting rifle, light for extended carry, but balancing weight forward for deliberate shooting. I have suggested Rem700 long action (or clone) Magnum...

.264 Win Mag: Any downside with starting with a bone-stock Rem Sendero?

Two stage triggers for Rem 700... Timney Calvin Elite. Huber Concepts. I have one Timney on a 338 Norma Mag. I have four Hubers on a 6mm BR, 6mm Creed, 7mm SAUM and 300 SAUM. Not hard to work out which one is the better trigger.

Rem 700 RUM action safe for Lapua/Norma

My 338 Norma is but on a factory Rem700 which started as a 300 RUM. Boltface opened up, M16 extractor fitted, action rails opened to allow the larger cartridge through. It works very well, 270gn ELD-X @ 2770fps from a 24in barrel on a 8lb 9oz rifle. I recently put a video up of the rifle...

338 builds (lapua/edge/or the like) lets see them.

Was able to get out to the farm recently to check my zero of the 338 Norma. With the new magazine system (HS Precision) the rifle now weighs 8lb 9oz all up. I setup my spotting scope and Camera to watch a 12inx15in rock 520m from the muzzle. Loaded three in the magazine, and one in the...
