Hunting with my daughter opening morning in North Texas. Not a long shot at 165 yards but a well placed 143 ELD-X did the job. Nice heavy whitetail. We are all blessed to be able to enjoy our shooting and hunting passion. Luckily my daughter will carry on this family tradition.
We all have a love for shooting that is why we do it. I too am a big 270 fan and love everything 270. Building a fast twist 270 right now. I know a lot of the things we do won't pass the "why do that" test. Because we want to scratch that itch and see what we can do with something a little...
I have loaded the Hornady flex tips in both my Marlin and Henry. They shoot OK but not as good as the standard cup and core bullets in my two rifles. If you are aiming to extend your distance a little they would work OK but I always choose accuracy over velocity.
My Marlin shoots way better than my Henry. I have tried everything in that Henry and it is good to stay under 2 MOA. The Marlin shoots most everything under 1.2 MOA and some handloads under 1 MOA consistently. The Henry is a good looking rifle but not a great shooter. I'll stick with the...
I personally like a 284 Winchester. I shoot it in competition so I made a hunting rifle chambered for the heavies. I killed my last bull with that rifle shooting 160g AccuBond. One shot one kill. Admittedly it was not 600 yards and it is not the heaviest pill I could have launched, but it...
I run the TriggerTech Diamond in my LR-308. It has been very reliable in my 6.5 Creedmoor AR. I use TriggerTech Specials in my hunting bolt actions and Jewell triggers in all competition bolt rifles.
Bartlein is dominating the short range Benchrest game right now. I use them on everything and have never been disappointed. Krieger and Brux I have used in the past as well and are also good to go. We are blessed to have so many good barrels to choose from.
I have Jewels and Triggertechs. Personal preference on brand and shoe configuration. On my hunting rifles equipped with Triggertechs they are all Special Curved. I just like the feel of the curved trigger shoe. I use the Special because I like my pull at 1 - 1.25 pounds. Triggertech makes a...

I built my brother a 7mm-08 twenty years ago and since that time that is all he carried. He has shot so many critters with that 7mm-08 you couldn't count them all.... All DRT! I built myself one a year or so after his and it is one of my favorite rifles. It seems to have the right velocity...
Petey308 I appreciate you taking the time to post this informative information. It appears you have used every method with the exception of salt bath annealing. I went straight to induction annealing mainly because I didn’t want open flames in my shop. I know people use them effectively but I...
You have received very good advice. I have most of the calibers mentioned and shoot them all. Here would be my picks:
Short Action: 6.5 Creedmoor, 6.5 PRC, 260, 7mm-08, 308
Long Actions: 6.5-284, 25-06, 270, 280
Since you have a long action 7 Mag I would pick from the short action calibers to...
I too would highly recommend Meopta for reasonable priced optics that perform above their asking price. Their Optika5 line is a 1" scope that offer a variety of variable powers and focal planes. I have several of their scopes and the optics are crystal clear and have help point of aim. They...
