300 RUM is a great choice, shot mine regularly with precision and performance, taking elk,bear, moose and Dahl sheep. On the down side, as a caliber for me it was a difficult case to load. Once you had that mastered you are home free with a quick, dependable and accurate cartridge. Good luck...

I'm fortunate enough to own one of each, if you roll your own you will find the 300 WM much easier to load, the RUM not so much. I've been loading over 55 yrs and have found the RUM the most challenging of all. In regards to your choice of weapons, chose the one you like the most then top it off...
