Funny and true. When my wife went last month for shoulder surgery she asked the dr about shooting her rifle. Fortunately in Wyoming Eveyone hunts so of course the ortho was a hunter and had some good advice (mostly do your PT and don’t push it until you’re recovered).

Some can’t afford to stock up that much at once. Others of us are new to this and didn’t know how long this would take. Anyway, why can’t we get along and all just agree, this sucks? You got a bunch, good for you. You don’t got a bunch, well this sucks.

Well I didn’t want to make this that sort of post. But, yes (technically I’m Jewish but I’m a white guy). I grew up in CA so we are all kinda mixed bag.

I really prefer MOA since it’s what I grew up on. That’s sorta tipping the scales in favor of the vortex.

If I could only have one rifle that would be it. A shorter barrel woods rifle in 30-06. In fact, I killed more animals when that was all I had than I have since adding a few more rifles (I'm not a collector, I keep maybe 3 rifles at a time: .223 varmint or similar, a 6.5 of some kind currently...

Pick one and kill whatever you want. I don't like the RUM, too much recoil and powder without much real world advantage. I don't particularly like belted mags, just haven't had great luck with brass life (could be my fault, probably is). Which leads me to the 300WSM. Just a wonderful round...

I once had a junky old VW. I jokingly said to a friend "lock the doors, don't want anyone stealing the gold bars". Some dudes in the parking lot thought I was locking the doors to keep them out and wanted to fight us for prejudging them. Sarcasm is a fun tool, but can backfire sometimes :)

Bit of an old thread, but wanted to see if anyone had any new insights or used the two a bit more. I'm looking for a range scope out to 1000y FFP and was thinking about the PST gen II vs Meopta maybe $800-$900. And for a hunting scope SFP in $500-$600 range. I know they're impossible to find...

I go back and forth between old and boring and new and fancy. It mostly depends on who I’m reading. If someone says the 6.5 is the be all end all, I spend the next month with the 30-06. If someone says the 6.5 is a worthless fad, I spend time with the 6.5s. I just like to be contrary :). So...

I am not a fan of all these camo rifles with colored cerakote. Give me a dark stock and stainless barrel :)

I’ve hunted almost exclusively with my Savage 110 in 30-06. I love it. Accurate, easy to load for, always kills what it hits :) I have a buddy with a similar low end rem 700. I’d hunt with either. I do not notice a noticeable difference in quality. but I’m also not the guy who will be out...

People online usually say something like “they’re ugly but shoot good”. I don’t see how they’re any uglier or prettier than any other bolt action. But they do shoot good :)

I’m fairly new to hunting but in the probably 7 years I’ve hunted (all public lands) I’ve had nothing but wonderful experiences with other hunters. Most of the time I don’t see them or if we do we park in different areas or hike different ridges. yes the jerks exist but for the most part...
