    schmidt & bender Precision hunter

I love my 4-16x50 pm2 with fine reticle, I have the Klien which has half mill hash marks, very useful. For low light I wish I had gone for the illuminated one though. It would give a little help for the last 10 mins of night or if using a lamp (where this is legal). Divide the cost over 20 to...

    Bipods

I've used bipods for years with variable results. Shooting off hard or dry ground can, in my experience, cause the rifle to jump resulting in some highly embarrassing groups. I find that if I try to hold the rifle with my left hand under the butt the groups get worst. I hold the fore-end with...

    sub or super sonic?

Abonik I've just tried some target ammo at 100 mtrs to compare the difference in accuracy and it's quite fantastic. Whilst the club standard of ammo was around 20% more accurate than the hunting subsonics that I use, the expensive premium grade Eley Match was 65% better. A little too expensive...

    sub or super sonic?

Thanks Abinok You've got me thinking now, I've spent all these years shooting hollow point hunting ammo for safety and ethical reasons. I've never tried using target ammo other than when you have real problems with a rifle and shoot some to find out where the problem lies. Think I'll go to...

    sub or super sonic?

I have been using the .22 rimfire for the past 20 odd years for rabbits and other things but have recently put a Super Sniper 10x40 scope onto my Sako finfire and worked up a balistics chart for adjustments. Well, when using a lazer rangefinder it's as though I've found a new rifle, those...

    NON Illuminated!

I use a 4-16x50 PMII S&B, it may be expensive but if its used often the price soon pales into insignificance. 0.1 mil adjustments means that I find the best way to use it is to range in meters and work all the maths in mils. It comes really easy once you ignore MOA.

    Rangefinder experience

I have a swarovski and haven't yet found reason to fault it optically but the carrying system doesn't suit me at all. The lens protection isn't up to a good field ready standard in my opinion. Any of you chaps found the same and come up with nifty solutions, I carry mine in a clean pocket and...

    Tactical scope for .22RF

Thanks Chris that's useful information. I've just purchased a scope from Pete Lincoln (Tasco SS10x42M) bit of an overkill on an rf but it may end up on my .308 yet. Following on from a different thread on forum, he's sound and has built me a cracking 6.5x55. It can be seen in his gallery under...

    Tactical scope for .22RF

Thanks Pinshootr, This product would be just the ticket except that Cabela's arn't able to supply me in the UK. What's the big issue about exporting 'scopes from the US?

.30 cal for deer in the UK

I have a 308 as my only deer legal calibre and use it almost weekly on muntjac (live weights of these average 10 to 12 kg's with the largest recorded at 21.6Kg's)and also on fallow and roe. I used to use a .243 and have many friends that do, but there are situations when a poorly shot deer with...
