Never had a problem with Ruger rings but my Warne QD 30mm rings fit the scope better. Had them on a mini and a 416 No. 1 and they were solid as a rock.

Ditto on what BrentM says: just drill out the neck portion of the FL sizing die to just over the neck OD of a fired case. You will now have a body die. You can leave the expander in as it will do nothing, which is what you want. The Lee Collett die will do the rest.

Have you checked the throat length? Years back the SAAMI standard for the 300Wby included a long throat, which enabled Weatherby to boost velocity a little. Not really helpful for best accuracy.

I wrap clear packing clear around the brake a few times and then use wipeout from the muzzle. Seems to work. The wipeout dissolves most of the adhesive from the tape so it's easy to remove. The tape only needs to stick for a few seconds while the wipeout expands.

If weight and compactness are critical then consider 300WSM in a short action. Short action 300WSM with the same length of rifling is 1" shorter and lighter than the other choices. You will always be able to get 300WSM brass and ammo, the same cannot be said for some of the others.
