    284 Win Ruger American

Didn’t same with a 6.5 cm and mdt field stock. I’m liking the setup so far. Chopped the barrel to 17” and got it threaded for dericasted suppressed shooting.

Also while I have the trigger out I polish the top portion that is part of the sear with a hand power tool. Seems to help if only a little.

Thank you. I went ahead and ordered a xcalibur med-contour 25-06.

Yep you’ll need to pull the spring out and chop 2 coils off. Put it back together and then seat the adjustment screw in halfway. The stiffer spring I think keeps the creep down vs using the mcarbo or equivalent. Form there tighten down to increase tension. I’ve found that after 10 dry fires...

Hey there. See you’re a fellow MIgander. Any chance I could touch base with you in your Ruger American build you did last year? Thanks Brian

Yes easy to make factory trigger better if you have not bought one already.. I've done a dozen of these the last year.

Ruger American Gen 2 vs Ruger American Gen 2 Rancher

For OP, IMO the shorter the better for the barrel with a suppressor and hunting out of a blind or treestand. You won't see a difference in 16 or 20" in performance but the muzzle blast is a difference and you'll notice the 16" much more. I've got a both lengths and an 18" in 6.5 CMs and even...

I'm looking at a similar build on a long action for a 25/06. Thanks again, Brian

What contour did you get on this barrel and did you have to grind the stock down any? Thanks Brian

    Anyone using VX-5HD

I’ve got 2 of the 2-10x for my eastern deer hunting needs. I love them but just bought a zeiss conquest 4 that I think is going to be an equal to the vx5. Can’t go wrong either way.

    Rifle weight

Just my .02 based on being there myself. Find a rifle that weighs base 5.5-7lb and plan on scope plus mounts being another 1.5-2lb. Don’t worry about recoil out of 280ai as I have 2 of them and they aren’t bothersome. They certainly don’t kick anymore than a 30/06 or 7 mag. I’ve shot elk with...

    Sheep build, UL backpacking rifle

Limited selections and all comes down to how custom and money of course. Have you you thought about the Tikka t3x superlite in 6.5prc? It’s 6.4 lb stock but bet you could shave off some with barrel length reduction 1.5 oz per inch barrel reduction. Titanium bolt handle and shroud and fluting...

    Finer Points of Reloading

I’ll keep it simple as the target competition folks taught me 2 things that I translated into hunting rifles: - Lee Neck Size Collet Die in combination with a Redding body die or your FL die that you have - Bullet comparator to ensure the distance from bullet to rifling(lands) is consistent...

280 AI and 6BR for wife build help

I like the recommendation here!! As an option the Tikka t3/t3x superlite comes in at 6lb even. My 7 mag is a superlite and with Leup vx5 2-10x it weighs 7.4 lbs with a DNZ mount. If you doing that or even a “lite” version you could always swap out with a 280AI barrel. I’m working a lw tikka...
