    Spotting Scope for Range work

Just purchased an Athlon spotting scope and so far it has been worth the money. At two hundred yards had no problem seeing 6.5 bullet holes in white paper. Don't have any experience on paper past that yardage. The Athlon replaced a five year old Vortex was miserable right out of the box.

Is your favorite rifle custom made or factory made ? I have a close tie

My favorite rifle is my pre-64 Model 70 Featherweight in 30-06. I haven't shot it in many years but it is a dream to put to your shoulder and lives up to its name when I carry it in the field. The stock developed a crack that ran from the front lug all the way back to the tang of the action...

    Gray Wolf Killed Michigan LP

My family owned property on Palomar Mountain in San Diego County. We saw a few tracks on occasion. Cat tracks. Mountain lions. Not many just once in a while. Then the liberal urban monkeys decided that the big cats needed complete protection. It only took about two years for the lions to...

Why the 338-378 Weatherby is my favorite long range Rifle

It has been an interesting read about all the 338 this and that. For my part I will say that after watching several of Kirby's videos and shooting a 338 Edge that belonged to someone else, I had a gunsmith build one for me. My first requirement was that it shoot itty bitty little groups. It...

    New build ideas

I didn't see any quarter bore bullets in the OP. A 25-06 barrel throated long with an 8 in 1 twist would bang steel all day long at 700 and, as far as I am concerned, is the ideal deer and pronghorn rifle. Just my two cents.

    Rifle Selection

Have Gunwerks build a 300 RUM. Plenty of ammo choices plenty of get there with power. Easy peasy.

    25-06

Old model Ruger 77 with tang safety stock barrel. 117 - 120 grn Sierra GameKing, 50 something grains of H4831. Too many deer to remember, most if not all DRT. Shoots this load into less than .375 for five shots. Never changed bullets. I am scared the group will not be the same.

I am hoping to use the 130s on deer and antelope.

    tired of my 6.5 creedmoor

Based on your description of what you are hunting there is but one choice: 243AI. I grew up in Arizona hunting javelina with a 22 Magnum. Not much needed to take javelina cleanly. With the 243AI and a good twist in the barrel, you get the benefit of some of the longer bullets to reach out for...

I would really like to follow your results. I have been considering using the 130s in my 30-06.
