West Australia bans 19 cartridges.

I'm not familiar with the Australian form of government, are the scared Police the entity that writes and codifies laws in Australia?
Sadly when it comes to firearms legislation yes I believe it's actually unconstitutional and illegal but what they do is get in the ear of the State Premier next minute wow it's law takes years for anything else even the Firearms Registry changes things and makes things up as it goes like storage requirements how thick material has to be for safes .
The registry even decides what type of firearm in some states the humble Tikka tac A1 is illegal on appearance laws that they invented because they're inept police forces can't tell the difference between that and an ar we're in this country at this very moment there is one bloke in prison because of toy Firearms take a need of our situation people because it's coming your way quicker than you think if only I had the money I would be living in either Tennessee South Carolina Alabama somewhere that's free .

Some states in the USA ban all rifles for shooting deers, others only allow straight walled cartridges, others have minimum caliber restrictions. Political edicts are not unusual. Politicians pander to the masses who are only concerned with immediate daily life but what would happen if automobiles & trucks having engines greater than 2,000 CCs were banned?

Should you need to affect a certain, humane, harvest of legal wildlife resources use enough gun.

I would go to jail if I had a pistol brace.

You want to know what's even more messed up? They are specifically targeting one guy. Take the inclusion of the .375 Gibbs, it was created by this guy.

The are literally banning a wildcat owned by a guy and his wife, that's how terrified they are of people owning long range firearms.

There is a big difference between dictating what round you can use for hunting and an outright ban on a particular round.

You will not go to jail for having a pistol with a brace. This is a rule by the ATF and not a law. It's unconstitutional and will be completely shut down.

No diff whatsoever - a ban is a ban, enforced by government authority - ban on any basis or description- ballistics or cartridge or hunting or public safety or political correctness or social acceptance (sick to own). Select what works best. Take the initiative to ban then let the courts resolve the issue.

ATF reg on pistol braces?

Is this true?

According to the final rule, gun owners who possess braced firearms will have 120 days to destroy, reconfigure, register, turn in their firearms to ATF, or face NFA violations which include $250,000 in fines and a hefty prison sentence.
Have people been arrested & jailed & then posted bail for violating NFA and await trial where they could be sent to prison? Arrest - handcuffs - jail - bail - trial. Take the initiative to ban then let the courts resolve the issue.

Liberal politicians don't like firearms & use any number of tools to restrict use & availability. No problem to modify ban based on cartridge name, legislate a ban based on ballistics like bullet weight & velocity to include undesirable wildcats (they call this "brainstorming").

Oppressive gun regs are common everywhere.

Include Sunday hunting bans in 2 NE USA states, well known for oppressive government control & heavy taxation, & socialistic policies including education.

Then there is the link between hunting & gun regulations, like "you don't need an AR 15 to hunt deer" - this comes from large, liberal politicians emulating farmers shown by tractors & pitchforks or attired in blaze orange hunting attire traversing fields carrying shotguns. The next step being - define certain firearms as being unsuitable for hunting, arouse public feeling against certain guns, then introduce legislation to ban. Change administrative policy via legislation.

The big .28 Nosler is on the Australian list - about 10% more velocity than 7mm Rem Mag - categorize this as a potential menace, not needed - sort of like "you don't need an AR 15 to hunt deer", then extend ban to include other calibers or cartridges being assured of majority public support.

One note on the Sunday hunting thing in PA, that started with a religious basis in the 1600s that has been continuously fought for primarily by farmers who didn't want people trespassing on Sunday and still is fought primarily by the PA Farm Bureau. The left doesn't have to even try for that one.

The Semi auto ban that we had started in 1907 to curb poaching and over harvest of game, same type of laws are the reason we can't carry a loaded rifle in the truck because of poaching concerns.
