Bergara HMR or Hells Canyon Long Range

I am in the market and am stuck between the two. Suggestions please, is their another make I should consider in this price range?

Can't speak to Bergara but have a Hells McMillian Long Range in 300 Win and it shoots extremely well. Fast twist plus ability to load to a longer length. Plus, I like short throw bolts.

What is the maximum allowed OAL in that rifle? Just out of curiosity

I have seen some references of 3.600" and I have loaded a 300 Win to 3.55" and still have room in the magazine to go longer.

5 shot group with my HMR in 6.5 creedmoor. My first attempt at reloading I loaded 7 different charges at +4 grains between loads. 4 of the 7 printed same hole. The largest group was under .75. Don't know if they all shoot like this but I love mine.

Very nice group. I think either rifle is a good one. I know from experience the Browning will shoot as well. I think it is more of a feature/look/feel at that point.

Dang nice group. Thought of throwing a Rem 700 5R Mil Spec in with the Bergara and HC

I've seen the hmr bergara's shoot very well at local bench matches but haven't seen the Hells canyon personally. I've seen ruger has a new long range rifle Coming out too that will prob be a shooter

I'll admit I'm not familiar with any browning rifles but I'd prob pick the bergara since it's essentially a remmy 700 action. And trigger and what not is interchangeable

I'd go with the bergara personally.

I went Browning. The magazine is great and the bolt is much nicer for hunting.

The Browning will also likely be lighter.

For the rest (trigger, accuracy, etc.) they're probably fairly evenly matched.

I'd take the Browning Hell's Canyon for several reasons:
1. 3 lug bolt W/ 60 deg. lift
2. bolt release button on bolt handle to open bolt while on safe
3. lapped barrel (yep)
4. 3 lever trigger with good adjustability
5. included brake
6. bronze Cerakoted metal and camo stock included
7. fluted (lightened) barrel.

Miroku in Japan makes excellent rifles and that's Browning's fabricator.

My only concern about the Browning LR is the 1/7 twist, what would you give up with the 140 grain bullets? I know the twist is intended for the newer heavies 150ish. I like the Browning for the reasons you mentioned, especially the 60 deg bolt lift and lighter contour barrel. I did happen across a NIB Rem 5r Gen 2 for $800 out the door.....
