Zeiss conquest HD5 3-15x42 or Leupold VX-3 4.5-14x44

Which one of these scopes would you chose to go on a custom 280ai that was being used for whitetails and mulies out to 500 yards? The zeiss is $629 and the leupold is $499. Anything else I should consider

629.00 for the HD5 is as good a deal as I have seen. For 3 to 500 I would get the Target Turrets. I have 4 HD5's they're a real good scope in their price range.

I also have 2 VX-3 and they don't compare favorably I like the older one better than the new. Scope choices are very subjective though.

Both are nice scopes, but the optics in the Zeiss are hard to beat. Both have good customer service, if you have trouble with the Zeiss, they are doing all there warranty work on the HD 5 out of Germany, so it could take a couple months to get back. But Zeiss makes a quality product, so chances of having problems are small.
