Which 338 lapua improved?

To what? When done you will have to buy a set of custom dies that will not fit your next chamber. Buy your own reamer first.

to go from my 338 lapua to a 338ax. it would cost me 300 to have him make me a set of dies also. so about 420 for the whole package.

Get two reamers, resizing and finish, if you are going that route. If you run a finish reamer in a sizing die blank it will be too big to properly resize your brass.
 
Thats a good point. My gunsmith knows all that im sure. He would be the one purchasing the dies and doing the work. Im just not sure if i want to invest another 500 in this rifle. Dont know if the gains justify the cost. What do you guys think?
