What's y'all's thoughts on a Ruger No. 1 for LR?

I've got an older 130 prefix 300 WM that is my main meat gun, it shoots consistent 3/8" groups at 100 yds with 165 gr NBTs. I have several kills in the 300, 400, and 500 yd range. Since I started shooting it I've always had a Leupold VX-II 2-7x33 on it, but I just got a nice Swaro 4-12 Z3 in a deal, and thinking about upgrading the scope. I know it's a consistent shooter with the 165 NBTs, but was thinking about shooting some 208 A-MAXs, since they would be a better LR choice.

Thoughts??

The #1 can be capable for lr, it all depends on what you do to/with it.
My #1 in 338win only has one kill on it, but that was a mule deer over 500 yards out. The biggest thing is getting enough repeatable accuracy out of the rifle. My rifle will shoot cloverleafs one day, and the next it is a basic one moa rifle.
If you've got the consistancy you say you have, play a bit and see.
